And not farm teams, multiple sister teams, huge disparity of talents of MVP, SMC teams vs independent teams, blatant abuse of the PBA's "420k max" salary through the use of under the table deals. Their biggest problem are overseas leagues. Amazing analysis. Putting the blame on other leagues.

I think they are same type of animal. Just that SMC has some advantages, namely finances and having no grudges with Parks and Heading.

Neither are on the level of Parks and Heading tbh.

Greg is top 5 centers in the PBA today, while Adams is an untapped potential waiting to be develop in a good team that is willing to wait for his development... And also they haven't sure how Bolick will be commit to PBA long term, remember, he's only signed 1 year at Northport (SMC's farm team)... He can leave anytime, same as Malonzo (also signed only 1 year at NP)... And MVP group doesn't care for Heading because he was picked by Terrafirma (SMC's farm team too), So it's SMC should transact to get Heading, Not MVP... I know they have the money, but they can snatch Heading from Taiwan league that he has good career there? I assume Heading will be given contract extension by his Taiwanese team and SMC/Terrafirma will have to wait...

Adams is 27 or 28. Although I know there are late bloomers, I dunno if he has room for growth at that age, which is supposed to be a player's prime.

The PBA leadership is ridiculously short-sighted.

They got "poached" because they think they're unassailable and failed to see an opportunity. The farm teams should've "encourage" their players who got foreign offers to go to the highest bidder (and get compensation from the "sale" of that player in some way), instead of putting them in a proverbial cage to not hurt their imaginary pride. Really, the PBA farm teams are basically just a worse version of "seller clubs" in football/soccer. Might as well embrace it openly. Pick players with potential, develop them, then trade them to SMC, MVP, or whatever group is interested, or sell them abroad.

Also, the PBA really should stop involving itself with national team affairs, it's obvious at this point that they can't compromise. I'd rather have them turn their attention to international club competitions. Top PBA teams shouldn't be gutted to just help the national team when the previous formula is already working, they should be out there competing with other Asian clubs for regional supremacy. About time the FIBA Asia Champions Cup is treated as what it's supposed to be: the "Champions League" of Asian club basketball, not a Gilas tune-up game. That will probably solve the PBA's obsession with the 3-conference format: it shortens the season, and it makes the grandslam achievement even more prestigious.
