At least We can see Coach Chot DDO be effective in SEA Games. Hehe.

But all the same, I hope it's not true and our concerns are unfounded.

Let's Be Honest Here.
Who do you think are deserving pba players to be at least considered in the pool for Gilas 2023. (Eligible Only)
Mine Would be:
Guards: Kiefer, Bolick, Perez, Thompson, Alas
Wings: Oftana, Wright
Bigs: Japeth, Junmar, Almazan
Not Deserving for me But I expect will be there: Pogoy, Troy, Erram,
This is purely based on their recent production

Kiefer and Bolick means they’ll supplant one pf the young Gilas guards. I’d retain RJ though. Tho not fully sold yet with Bolick.
Parks will be a big boost. In case Navarro doesn’t develop more.
Japeth and Junmar will be good with Kouame, Sotto and Edu. Tho IMO Japeth’s inclusion depends on Tamayo’s development.Philippines is in National Team transition mode.

Give Bolick, Perez or Scottie, any player standing at 6’4 and above we should be picking from overseas leagues like BRP, Dwight, Tuffin, Lopez(possibly playing overseas), Caelum etc, players molded in an environment where they’re surrounded by bigish players who aren’t dinosaur footed. You really can’t expect 6’7 players like Sanggalang, Erram and Almazan who move like Junemar Fajardo to not be dominated by any half decent basketball team even Malaysian players would score on these guys. I would take Caelum and Lopez over Baltazar and Tamayo if the latter would choose to stay in the PBA because there is a 99.99999% chance those two would be the next Troy and Erram in the PBA and the international stage, it’s all about the environment.
But, well, it's the PBA. Unlikely to change.

He is not B league level. He is not long enough to play SG. But he does not have a mindset or the skills of a PG. Hopefully he will work on this in Indonesia. I think he gained too much weight. Even in UP in his last season he was slower and not as effective offensively and defensively.
Lebron on the other hand might have forfeited his amateur eligibility at such a young age, when he is not good enough to use Kai's method. At 6'6 he is not extraordinary enough an athlete or skilled enough to be considered special in the US. They should have known that US embassy officials can be fickle in awarding visas. And they should not have thrown everything in that basket. In the same way that his father seemed like a baby for going to the media for a decision that was forced by Serbia on the team. His father seems short sighted now for betting all on this.Originally posted by ja.he View PostLeBron only knows how to dunk and attack the basket. Other facets of his game are really lacking. Tab wants LeBron to be known not only for dunks but as a great player.
I'm afraid but he might end up as Kobe 2.0 and Japeth 3.0 - all jump, lacks BBIQ.Originally posted by dubidub View Postin fairness to Lebron, he's still supposed to be in high school. he only played 1 year of competitive ball in the UAAP then the pandemic happened. but in terms of the situation lebron is now, wherein he is kind of stuck in basketball purgatory, i do share your concern about him turning into Kobe 2.0 - unrealized potential due to questionable career moves. although yun nga, the pandemic played a huge part in what is happening to lebron now.Originally posted by robert0326Is he eligible to play in the PBA? If yes then play first in the PBA if he's not eligible to play college basketball anymore...Originally posted by IPC View PostHe's not eligible. He's still 18. 19 is the minimum age (and with that comes the 2-year college requirement).
And personally, better kung abroad muna. I don't think Lebron will be used as an SF or even a small ball 4 in the PBA, especially with his raw skillset. Unless if he lands with Ginebra, NLEX, even NorthPort. I've been adamant regarding our FIBA-sized players from 3-5, that they're better off abroad muna than in the PBA. Retirement league na lang sana for them.

Is the PBA serious? That's when we should be preparing for FIBA. The FIBA Asia Cup's on July 12. Putanginang 'to.
Priorities talaga. And they want representation on the national team, but just lend few players. Not really helping much on preparation.
Hope this is just a pending date, and gets moved to AFTER the FIBA Asia Cup.
What the hell, PBA? In the proximity of the FIBA Asia Cup?

Also, I think that imports who have played at least 3-4 conferences in the PBA should be considered in the permanent roster of a team, counted in the Fil-foreigner limit. This should encourage imports to keep coming back. However, you can only have one of these guys, or a naturalized player or Asian import (if ever) in their place.
