If i were Phoenix, I will trade Wright for Perez, since Wright's contract will expire, Perez - Topex reunion at Phoenix will be a good thing for this franchise and maybe PBA as whole...
speaking of Wright, he's currently contemplating if he'll go overseas
I only hope Ginebra goes back to a traditional lineup or a proper-sized small ball lineup someday. However, what's working right now is the Pinoy small ball, e.
That is rooted more on biology than any coaching schemes, smaller body, lesser weight, more stamina. Philippines can't produce proper forwards. More the reason why 6'5+ pinoy players should be going overseas not the PBA. We are looking for metal in a factory that produces plastic.
Well, ayun. Our homegrown 6'5" forwards should be going abroad if they have talent.
However, as for the PBA, having 6'5"+ Fil-foreigner wings can be good enough as well. We just need enough.
I'm happy for Wright if he goes, but not for Phoenix, One of the independent teams who still competing and not farm team, rumors that they are alleged farm team but i'm not buying yet on that.. They playing thru their limited finances... I'm not happy in that way Phoenix will lose a star player for nothing.. That's why before Wright's contract will end, Phoenix should do a trade that involve him with a balance trade... That's why it's good idea for Phoenix to trade him to Perez on a one on one trade... Wright will be better fit with SMB, especially Marcio is aging already while Perez - Topex reunion at Phoenix, since SMB already too much star power, Perez trade to Phoenix will lessen SMB's problem of having too much loaded players.. Wright can adjust into role player with SMB than Perez.. Or if Wright still want to leave overseas, Phoenix already having getting return if Wright goes...
I will not be surprised if Matthew Wright plays in Taiwan. Tainan is fighting Taoyuan for last spot for playoffs. The team needs a player with instant offense. Artino cannot do it alone. Wright fits the bill.
Mostly, it will be Filams/Fil Foreigners who will be potential 6'5+ Wings.
Bihira talaga 6'5+ talented wing Homegrowns satin e. Especialy sa pba, I think only Oftana???
Ferrer and Arvin too. Ferrer had flashes of potential, but man, did he fail to live up to it. Arvin naman, he's talented, but not yet tough enough, and is a defensive liability.
But yeah, most 6'5"+ wings with talent will be Fil-foreigners.

Those 2 peaked in HS IMO. They regressed in college. So choosing the right school should also be a priority for our qing prospects
The Dragons will be composed of free agent players from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese Taipei and are going to be reinforced by two imports during their PBA and EASL stints.

I hope so too, when i heard about this news easl team joining as a guess team nagka interest ulit ako manood ng PBA but pinasok nanaman yang height limit bullsh* na yan nakaka-discourage nanaman. nakakahiya talaga.

Or push through with a height limit, period. Goodness graciousness.
We're about the only league in the region with an all-local tournament, and a part of the season having import height limits. It's total bullshit. Seriously, man.
Honestly want the PBA to have imports throughout the season, and without a height limit, no matter the season format (single-season or two-conference format or what).
Also, I think that imports who have played at least 3-4 conferences in the PBA should be considered in the permanent roster of a team, counted in the Fil-foreigner limit. This should encourage imports to keep coming back. However, you can only have one of these guys, or a naturalized player or Asian import (if ever) in their place.

Navarro's pretty much a decent wing defender. Sure, he might just be a placeholder in the end, but we'll need him to provide defense at the wing and switch onto 2s and 4s if necessary. Can keep the ball moving and hustle too. At least he can provide something on the court when his shot's not falling or he doesn't shoot at all.
Sad that he doesn't go overseas to try out his luck. There are no 6'7 wingers in the PBA that they will need him to shut down, they don't really need him to guard the 6'1 power forwards like Scottie Thompson over there in the PBA, Kib Montalbo or Pogoy types will do, those guys are probably more fun at parties and inuman sessions than Navarro anyways.
Which is why we might need Brownlee-type imports or tall talented Fil-foreign wings who can abuse the smaller matchups at 3, forcing teams to get bigger at that position.
I actually had another innovative proposal, where again, imports should be there for the whole season, and are part of the permanent roster, this time part of the FIBA-ineligible limit. No matter the season format, imports should be a part of the team for the whole year. No height limits too.
Instead of a blanket limit, it should instead apply to FIBA-ineligibles. FIBA-eligible players like Kelly, Gabe, Wright, Perez, Demusis, and Parks should not count against that limit. What should be counted against that limit are FIBA-ineligible Fil-foreigners, imports, and naturalized players.
The naturalized player spot can instead be taken by an Asian import, which is now possible given the PBA-KBL deal.

Bottom line is, we'll need imports for the whole year to raise the level of play, but of course subject to limit on their number (but not their height). If a team goes with a shorter import, or prefers All-Filipino, it should be within their discretion.
This week is when the league is expected to announce the new team and what concessions the buyer got in the deal.
“The final, you know, dotted line, I don’t know where [we are at that],” Cariaso said. “Again, we’re asking for a little patience, it’s a weird time right now, but I wish I could let you guys know soon.”
Usually, disbanding teams trade their marquee players for other considerations before selling their franchises bare, but in keeping with the Alaska mantra of “#WeNotMe,” Uytengsu, according to the highly-placed source, made sure that everyone is taken care of.
“That’s the plan [to keep the core], but you never know [in the long run],” the source said.
