That's why i will not surprise if TNT is the first one to get his services due to Chot's connection with him, another one is Ginebra, CTC loves these kind of player.. SO in the end, I think either TNT or Ginebra will try to get his services
Thing is Ginebra already has plenty of forwards, all of whom can play and/or guard the 3 in some capacity. Arvin Tolentino, Sidney Onwubere, Aljon Mariano, and Jared Dillinger. Not sure if Ginebra has room.

I think TNT is the more likely destination. Like you said, TNT's lacking in the wings outside of Khobuntin. I think he'll be a 3, or sometimes a small-ball 4 to accommodate Chot's 3-guard lineups.

the rest of those conglomerates you mentioned also don't need the PBA at all to create value and drive sales for their brands
Well, the cost in operating a PBA team can be used as a business expenses that can be deducted to the gross income of a corporation.

SMC and MPIC are conglomerates. They don't really have to promote their products since they are: (1) popular to the public (Pale Pilsen for beers, Ginebra for gins, Magnolia for poultry meats); or (2) their competition is few or they don't really competition at all (TNT/SMART's duopoly with Globe while MERALCO and NLEX are public utility companies). Look, they are still in the league and pouring millions to operate teams.

        LMAO.

Now Farm Teams will need to seed the players faster, so they can trade them before the players enter Free Agency.

And If I am the player, WHY WOULD I ACCEPT FARM TEAMS OFFER? LESS PERKS, LESS WINS, LESS ACHIEVEMENTS, LESS UNDER THE TABLE SALARY. ONLY POSITIVE IS YOU WILL HAVE MORE PLAYING TIME MAYBE.

        • Roosevelt Adams is also a free agent: https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/b...cy/229896?s=09

SMB could be a possibility, and he could fill a hole in the wing. TNT, pwede rin. He provides shooting, an asset valuable to TNT, and he's a tall wing. The playoff teams could really use this guy.

Well, TerraFirma has lost two wings now. Ayan, farm team kasi. Players won't want to play for them if the pay is low, and they're losing consistently.

            Told ya.

Now they cant do their usual. "Develop young players, then sell them if they are ripe".

Now Contenders will not even need to trade for them. They will just wait for them to be FA

With this UFA rule, only draft picks and "scrubs" would be willing to sign on with the farm teams, just for playing time and probably money.

Well, this might signal the death of farm teams. I dunno if it's far-fetched or anything though.

Adams had an opt-out clause in his contract, though, that's why he could become a UFA.

General rule for UFA is still playing for an aggregate period of 7 years to become one. Otherwise, you'd have to have an early opt out option, or get cut from the team.

                • the UFA rule hurts the farm teams as they could no longer earn by trading their drafted players, well if only we have a strict salary cap and transparency, eventually a level playing field could be achieved, too bad that's just a pipe dream, at least this would eliminate the incentives for tanking and farming for BWB and TF

                  • This is the beauty of UFA - it will put farm teams out of relevance. Lopsided trades will be lessen since players have now power to choose where they want to play.

If I were Terrafirma, Blackwater and Northport, I will just sell the team to a more capable conglomerate/company. They will also earn by leaving the league.

Eventually the 7yrs will be shorten. I guess.

Looks like pba is really following the nba.

Next step would be applying TRUE draft lottery thru ping pong balls like in NBA. (And it must be video recorded)

Problem is, lopsided trades can still be a possibility, given the 7 years a player has to play before he becomes an unrestricted FA. For the rule to be truly effective in stopping farm teams and farm team trades, the waiting period needs to be shortened.

As for the level playing field, that might be achieved when players in some teams want more playing time that they can't get in the big teams. They might have to go to the independent teams.

It's should be co-terminus with the max contract period in the PBA. As far as I know, that is three years.

Free agency should always be co-terminus with the player's contract.
