And the PBA has to remove the stupid height limit.

That's the problem if you're an Asian import big man playing in leagues like the B-league or T1, SBL or P-league becoz yung mga world imports na hina hire nila are usually big men. I assume Jakrawan's opportunity to score is limited as it is the world imports who are given the lion share of opportunities.Originally posted by zairex View PostThats what I been saying. Adding more imports in PBA will limit opportunities of our big Man to develop real game skills and IQ. Including no limits on Fil for in roster. I don't have issue with limitless height but make it one import at a time like UAAP.Originally posted by PaVi View PostFor me, this can be maximized if pba has unlimited filfor hiring. In the end, pba will recognize that not because you played in the states, you are automatically a good player. Also, it is high time that resident imports are allowed to play in the pba. One slot per team is allowed, with 1 year guaranteed contract.Originally posted by mathematicianrcg View PostAdditionally, we can identify who are the homegrown locals who can go toe to toe with quality overseas based Fil foreigners.Originally posted by zairex View PostThe issue is teams in PBA wants to win to make sense of spending 200 million a year. With that mindset, they will hire all the filfors they can. But as we can see, some fil fors have the advantage in physical attribute and will still be chosen above same skill set pinoy. My worry on that is PBA will end up having more top players who are not Fiba eligble. Thats why I think we need that limit.
Alot of leagues around the world have their own player restriction except for NBA.
Also alot of players improve under CYG because he gives everybody a chance to play.
Domestic leagues are training grounds for potential national league players. We'll need to raise the level of competition, yes, but at the same time give opportunities to talented locals. Just remove the import height limit.

Originally posted by IPC View PostAgree with zairex on the limit. Although, I would like to qualify by saying that I'd like a FIBA-ineligible limit, instead of a blanket Fil-foreigner limit. That way, guys like Gabe, Kelly, Wright, Perez, Abueva, Tratter, Ryan Reyes, Marcio, and Greg won't count against the limit.

But this will rise some issues and complaints.
So basically, we are limiting the number of Fil Foreign Players who do not have a passport before they turned 16.
I think we can implement this. But what is the limit?

As for the limit, I think it should be 7 FIBA-ineligibles, including the import.

Sources also said that Shaw is now heading to Ginebra to play for the Gin Kings' 3x3 team with the goal of eventually advancing to the 5x5 team where the 36-year old Fil-foreigner hopes to reestablish his career.

SPIN.ph learned the 32-year-old Fil-German already came to terms with the Kings for a new contract that is good for three years.
Barangay Ginebra management has been mum about the signing, but a team insider did confirm both parties already shook hands and began moving forward.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but sources said the deal is valued in the neighborhood of what June Mar Fajardo, the highest-paid player in the PBA, is getting from San Miguel Beer, the sister team of the Gin Kings.
Ginebra is set to make the formal announcement in the coming days.
One of the most talented bigs in the PBA, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound Aguilar was the object of at least four Japan B League teams' obsession in recent months, attempting to lure him with deals as rich as $40,000 a month.
The Gilas Pilipinas high-flyer's previous contract with Ginebra expired at the end of the year, but Aguilar ultimately decided that there is no place like home.
By re-signing Aguilar, Ginebra management has locked up the three players most coveted by B.League teams - Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, and Scottie Thompson - to lucrative long-term deals.

Per Scottie, he is just beginning his marital life.Originally posted by Dotch View PostSo its final. Japhet, CStand and Iskati, are now staying and are locked-in by long hair ( multi-million contracts) Salary cap be damned.

As for trade, MERALCO could go for Greg Slaughter if they want. It's just a matter of who to give up.
They just need something to relieve Almazan or even push him to 4.

Yeah, Holmqvist may be a better reliever for Almazan. He might even form a twin tower combo with him. Almazan really should be playing more 4 at this point, like he did at times with RoS, to lessen the strain of banging inside.
