hmm if that's the case TNT could tap Blatche, provided that he is in shape and has no active contract elsewhere

ABL has teams like Philippine Patriots, Alab Pilipinas, Thailand Cobras, and Indonesia Warriors - teams that only exist in ABL. In contrast, EASL, except for that Greater China Team, will have teams coming from different leagues (PBA, KBL, B.League and P.LEAGUE+), thus, catching the spirit of Euroleague.
Thanks to the "Greater China" team (this is the HK-based team, right?), a slight resemblance to the Euroleague will be realized as it would have its own "registered" team. Not sure if this is the correct terminology but from what I read about Euroleague, these are the clubs (well-moneyed and very influential) that build up the prestige the Euroleague currently has and thus are automatically entered in to the tournament annually.

Sana lang. The money's a big motivation. I mean, who'd want to leave that on the table?

I hope they send CLUBS. May imports naman to bolster any weaknesses. And as Vargas said, they have the talent and the coaching know-how, maybe that's enough to compete.
One thing. Eric Castro says that the PBA will have a "complete season" in 2022. I dunno what that means, but he says that despite that, it won't hinder their participation in the FIBA windows and the EASL.

It means 3 conference format. Hehe

“If the 47th season pushes through by April of 2022, we can still hold three conferences. And like what Chairman Vargas mentioned earlier, we will try to accommodate the tipoff of the EASL by October of 2022,” said Castro. Stu*p*d PBA.

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is so committed to the East Asia Super League (EASL) that it is more than willing to tweak its own busy schedule just to give way to the newest club tournament in the region. No less than PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas said as much Thursday during a virtual press conference […]

I believe that PBA has a cognitive dissonance here.

            Figured as much.

Apologies for the language, but is this a fucking joke? More than the 3-conference format, they plan to start the next season RIGHT AFTER this coming conference?

This is a chance to improve and reform the PBA system, and they look like they're bungling it. Goddamn.

Yeah, I mean, there's a chance at a cash prize, and a chance for modifying and improving their games and their system, and improving Philippine basketball. Do they want 2019 to happen again?

I couldn't agree with you more brother.

These crooked PBA people are obviously thinking of "makabawi" sila for the loses they incurred during the 2 years of this pandemic period that's why they are planning for a 3-conference season next year. Well, good luck to that with this dreaded COVID-Omicron variant coming to the country. PBA badly needs luck to come-up with their traditionally sucking 3-conference format.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

As if they're gonna get more gate sales like when the 3-conference format was still in place. If it's not a Ginebra game or an exciting playoff series, the stadium's not full. Plus, if the format further contributes to Gilas' failure in FIBA events, fans will further lose interest, maybe even sponsors.

Hay, nako. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.

PBA people are so overwhelmed with GREED to think about learning from their mistakes.

They are like this women in this movie clip (fast forward to 3:00): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGtFGnLbzLI

Yeah, choosing poorly. Indiana Jones, huh? That movie was my favorite of the series.

As for the PBA, shortsighted thinking from greed will be the death of them. Greed can be a nice motivating factor, but think ahead, think of the repercussions. It won't help your greed in the end if you go ahead and the repercussions are too great.

In the same article, the PBA say they're willing to adjust to EASL and FIBA. But with the 3-conference format, this only lengthens the season. Better if the PBA simply does a two-conference format or better, a one-season format, as it will better help adjust to the EASL and FIBA schedule, and also give ample time for an offseason. Plus, giving good support (meaning ample e.g. lending players fit for international play, giving ample time depending on the FIBA event, and resulting to success) to Gilas may invite more fan interest.

And, why the third conference when you have additional games in the EASL? I mean, come on. Let the EASL serve as the third conference.
