Kumbaga, sa SMC bigtime, sa MVP small time lang. Hehehhe.
Before, it was L-Rod who's the main trade piece (or kicker). Now, it's Chris Javier

      1. There is a draft lottery in the draft. Legit lottery with pingpong balls.

      2. Restricted Free Agents for Rookies during resigning. And Unrestricted Free Agents for Veterans.

Idk if they can also apply Bird Rights in soft cap and hard cap.
for me, just do away with the draft. annual draft is totally useless for as long as the farm teams exist. trading away your prize rookies defeats the purpose for the draft. just do what B.League and NBL are doing.

Problem when we do away with the rookie draft, PBA mid-tier teams which aren't farms teams - Alaska, ROS, Phoenix, would be in a disadvantage becoz in terms of financial capacity, they're no match against SMC & MVP teams. So chances are, yung mga blue chip rookies eh mapupunta pa rin sa SMC & MVP teams.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

let them be. let Alaska, ROS and Phoenix get the scraps and develop them into better players the way San Antonio Spurs in 2000's and Golden State Warriors in 2010's did it.

Overwhelming with talent is SMB, Ginebra, and TNT. Difference is, tactics play a bigger part with Ginebra and TNT. SMB is just overwhelm them with their awesome talent. Credit to Austria for introducing a 4-out system to SMB.

That is the situation in other leagues specially Euro and B.Leagues. But don't expect balance and always the same set of finalists year in year out. Just like Toyota and Crispa days.

Actually, that's true in Europe, and basically almost every other league in the world. Big teams have the advantage. You have the money to spend on a player, it all depends on that player's decision. Small teams sell players to get money, big teams buy players to contend.

However kasi, in Europe, they have a continental club championship i.e. Euroleague and Eurocup, where the big teams of domestic clubs face each other, increasing the level of competitiveness, kasi only the best teams are there. This may also be the case with the EASL. Best teams in Japan, China, SoKor, and us, as the powers of the region. However, this will worsen the inequality here in the Philippines, as is the effect in European domestic leagues.

I'll take that para lantaran na because the draft process and trade transactions are useless due to the presence of farm teams.

Why do PBA teams take such a process and transaction if teams are doing things under the table?

Getting a 6-foot-9 player is indeed hard to pass up and the Magnolia Hotshots wasted no chances in acquiring towering rookie James Laput.

The Hotshots figured in a trade with the Terrafirma Dyip to get the big frontliner in a deal that also involved veteran guard Justin Melton and center Kyle Pascual.

The deal is still up for approval of the PBA's committee in charge of the trade, but Magnolia is excited to have a young player who'll be added to their roster.

"I just told him he needs to be patient and we will be patient as well in his development," Magnolia coach Chito Victolero told PBA Rush in a telephone interview.

Laput played in 10 games for Terrafirma, averaging 2.60 points and 2.60 rebounds per game in 10.36 minutes of playing time.

He is expected to play significant minutes for the Hotshots, who finished runner-up to TNT in the recent Philippine Cup.

"The good thing about James, he'll get the opportunity to learn form Raffi Reavies, to get his basketball smarts and also learn from Ian Sangalang when it comes to using his footwork," added Victorlero.

"Hindi naman namin siya minamadali, but we see a lot of upside in him since bata pa naman siya and he'll learn a lot from these veterans."

Laput attended the team's practice on Friday and Victolero had shown the potential of the big man.

What's Laput's eligibility status? Can he play for us in FIBA games?

If not, what about Asian Games?

It will be the best case scenario so that guys like Thirdy, Ramos, etc... will not dodge the PBA.. We all know Thirdy will only play for MVP teams, Ramos' favorite team is TNT, Abando will play for any SMC teams only, and so on.. Let the future prospects pick their team that they want already.. kaysa naman pilitin sila maglaro sa mga farm teams that no intention of winning.. I will take that route rather than using Rookie draft but in the end they will sell it to the bigger market teams... Because those guys (Thirdy, Ramos, GDL bros, etc..) are fighters and looking for being winners...
Just lower the minimum age to 18 and let any team sign whoever the fuck they want.

Most likely, just for Asian games.

I hope he becomes our poor man's version of Robin Lopez. That ain't gonna be too low a ceiling for someone like Laput.

If turns out better than Holstein then I'd consider it a win already. He didn't really shown much in college. Unless he's a super late bloomer like Erram

Yeah, considering the absence of all the drama/distractions that Holstein went through, Laput is in a much better situation to become a serviceable PBA player.
