Even the combination of Menk and Alvarado was no match for Alvin during the final years of his career.

i remember during 1985 when alvin won his mvp award in the ncaa over the much favored macaraya of the champion team of baste. i believed that spark his long basketball career.

After Alvin retired, power forwards have become taller, stronger and more athletic. Someone has yet to match his skill set. His skill/style was ahead of its time.

i agree with you. it's really unfortunate that a player as talented as Alvin was doomed to play all his life in the PBA.

Please translate for the rest of us. No need to insult the whole league either, ASB.

Dont wanna disrespect the "captain" He is a relative of mine in fact but he is really short for his height..For international Bbal..
You know how to WIN against the Philippines? Zone them do death and watch them crumble. Been working Since 2002 and coaches until today don't have the answer for it.

im a huge fan of patrimonio. all im saying's that if only the PBA was not as lame as it's always been, patrimonio with all that talent would've achieved even greater heights. he could have been our version of fadi el khatib.

I agree with you sir, i always watched Patrimonios game since his college days he gives 100% in every game the way he plays does not describe his true height

it helped that Alvin was not totally consumed by showbiz, unlike benjie paras, that's why he had a consistent PBA career to speak of. that it did not taper during his prime years.

it also helped that he always had proper conditioning that's why he never had career-threatening injuries. proof: he still holds the longest consecutive games played at 597.

and he certainly knew when to quit.
I'm back. Don't ask why. Just be glad.

if you had watched Patrimonio's games in his college days then that means you are wealthier than me, sir, in knowledge and experience. So do not sir me, sir. it should be me who should "sir" you, sir.
BTW, thanks for agreeing with me. Patrimonio's full-bodied frame and 6'4 height did not exactly make him undersized in Asia during the early 90's. China then was just within striking distance. However, it's a pity that PBA, the ONLY influential basketball body in the Philippines during that time which had the capacity to push our basketball program to unprecedented heights, just looked the other way around and contented itself to fooling and brainwashing fans that we're still the best in asia. That brainwashing's been so effective that its effects can still be felt today. just ask a PBA fanboy.

FYI Alvin Patrimonio once competed for PABL slamdunk competition finals against Vergel Meneses and Jojo Lastimoso during the mid 1980s..Meneses i think emerged as the slamdunk king during that time.
