Getting Smart Gilas to play in the Dubai tournament was a very smart move (excellent marketing strategy)

It's not only the forums here that are going to be flocked

I expect the Pinoy community here in the UAE to fill up the courts big time.
(I have played basketball twice here so far in Abu Dhabi in the public courts and other than 2 Lebanese friends from work all the other guys playing with us were from the Philippines)

(I can only imagine what would have happened had India and Pakistan had good basketball teams and decided to play in the Dubai tournament . It would have been absolute mayhem )

what if (NO offense) an Israeli team played? It would MEAN MORE mayhem than India and pakistan.

Actually, here in RP, people know a little about Smart Gilas, since they love the PBA. I don't know about the Pinoys in UAE. Maybe they'll come and support since a team from PILIPINAS is playing.

We're trying to find a website that'll stream the games live here in the net. Our local channels s*ck, we'd be lucky to even see a documentary aBOUT Smart Gilas.

Actually pinoys here play basketball a lot on public courts and most of them play well better than arab.

              Khalid
There was a vollyeball tournament here and every year the invite India and Pakistan , when they play against each other , the crowd was the same when Syria and Lebanon play in Dubai.

anyway, Giles is playing for Riyadi, I want to see him fare against GILAS!

                  How many IMPORTS per team?

we only have one. it's going to be hard. I'll take that the UAE NT won't have an import.

So at least an Al-Jazeera branch would broadcast the games. Then there's a chance a livestream might run.

I think u guys misunderstood my point. I'm not mentioning India and Pakistan because there are problems between the 2 countries but due to the large amount of people from these countries in UAE.
I just meant it will be chaos if many fans actually wanted to go watch their teams play .

Mahmoud, will u be watching any of the games on court?
I do want to watch a game but I probably can only do it on Friday since this is the only day off that we have from work and since I will be coming from Abu Dhabi.

                            We need live streams...
You know how to WIN against the Philippines? Zone them do death and watch them crumble. Been working Since 2002 and coaches until today don't have the answer for it.

so, as international basketball fans, what shall we expect from this tournament? if for example, the jordanian ballclub loses to syria, can we say that syrian basketball is getting better and surpassing that of jordan? note that in previous invitationals, we tend to dismiss such as not reflective of the true basketball strength of a country, as that job is for the FIBA asia to measure. so, if FIBA asia is the only standard as far as most fans would have it, then what to expect in this tournament?
this is not a rhetorical question. i'm really asking what to expect.
