Good to see him getting some play-off time and being effective in limited minutes. It looks like Gasol/Randolph weren't playing great last night, so coach Hollins wanted to see if Haddadi could give them a few good minutes.

I didn't get the chance to watch the game but Haddadi also could have gotten more playing time towards the end of the match when the game was already out of hand...

Edit: Just checked the play by play from the NBA website and indeed Haddadi played in only the 4th quarter

it seems that the guy can perform well when given the chance,i really hope that he gets a decent number of minutes next season, even if it would mean him leaving the grizzlies,he's getting burned on the bench, the guy,obviously, has alot to offer it would be a pitty if he'd remain the way he is now.

TEHRAN - Hamed Haddadi’s three-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies has expired and he has not yet signed with a new team.

He was the first Iranian to play in the NBA.

The 7' 2"" center joined the Grizzlies in 2008 on a three-year contract worth $5,227,779, but stayed on the bench under coach Marc Iavaroni in the beginning of his first season. In the middle of the season, Lionel Hollins was named the new Grizzlies coach, but Haddadi didn’t see any major changes in his situation.

Then he lost his cool and chided team officials.

“Grizzlies’ officials don’t let me show my abilities. I have done my best every time I was called up to play for my team, but I don’t know why they don’t trust me. I will have to change my team now since I am a star of the team but sitting on the bench,” Haddadi told the Tehran Times in an interview in August 2009.

Haddadi averaged 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 36 appearances for the Grizzlies in his second season.

But he could not start the third year on time. Haddadi was detained in Iran because of a legal issue, and only joined the Grizzlies after missing the first three weeks of training camp. Then in November, Haddadi was arrested for domestic assault and forced to go to jail for a short time.

In March 2011, Haddadi scored 10 points in an NBA game for the first time, but this performance could not get him more playing time.

Haddadi played very little in the playoffs this year during the Grizzlies amazing run in which they eliminated the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs and only fell to the Oklahoma Thunder after seven games in the second round, narrowly missing the NBA Western Conference finals.

In one playoff game, he played for one second.

Now, Haddadi’s future remains shrouded in mystery since the Memphis Grizzlies have not renewed his contract.

Haddadi receives Qualiying Offers from Memphis

The Memphis Grizzlies have extended a Qualifying Offer to Hamed Haddadi. The move makes Haddadi a restricted free agent this off-season and Memphis can match any salaries offered by NBA teams to Haddadi.

The Qualifying Offer is worth $2 Million.

I don't think this would be a good move career-wise (with all due respect to the Chinese basketball, which needless to say, is top-notch in Asia). I would be very surprised if goes to China.

well i think they're talking in case of an eventual lockout, i think china would be a good choice for haddadi, i'm not sure if he'll be able to sign a good deal in europe bcs all the other NBA players will probably be heading there.
anyways,if he's lucky enough he can get signed by a good europian team, otherwise china is always an option, him being an asian player is a very big plus,plus i'm sure in china he'll play 40 minutes+ and he can stay in shape till the lockout ends,and i'm sure he'll dominate in china and be one of top 3 centers there if not top 1

Foshan (Stephon Marbury's club last year) confirmed that they have initiated talks with Haddadi, but denied the rumored $200,000/mo offer (well every Chinese club wants to appear poor because salaries are never disclosed in CBA).

He has offers from China and Turkey due to NBA Lockout. and he will play in one of these teams till the lockout ends.

you are absolutely right I wasn't thinking of the lockout when I posted that.
China would be good in that case, Turkey might be better (stronger league, closer to home..,)

ESPN Radio reports that the Memphis Grizzlies have withdrew their qualifying offer to Haddadi and that makes Haddadi an unrestricted free agent next season.
