Hamed Haddadi the next big thing

What exactly is the discrimination? For instance, "he has to pay for anything within the club"? Like jerseys? That's messed up. Restaurants, so? He can afford his own meals. So again, pay for what?

“For instance, the Spanish player does not pay a dime for his purchases." Really? What purchases? A car, house? That doesn't sound right.

“Even with his three-year contract with the Memphis [Grizzlies] he hasn't been allowed to play for the team as much as he did last year." Is that discrimination or is he just not playing that good (or someone else playing better)? I haven't really paid attention so I don't know if Hamed is playing good but the coach won't play him. Plus, even if it is true, that doesn't mean it's because he's Iranian. He could either not fit the coaches style (or coach being stubborn) or the coach doesn't personally like him (which is of course unprofessional).

Seems like much to do about nothing, unless someone has more info or a different take on it. Not to mention this is all from his brother and others have already questioned the source.

He should have left Grizzlies a year ago in my opinion,
my feeling is that he doesn't want to leave because he likes his life/lifestyle in Memphis and he probably feels that he has already hit the ceiling of his aspirations.

When you are with your club team they usually pay for hotel rooms, food, shoes, and jerseys. I doubt Haddadi can get that treatment since he is an Iranian national and American's technically are not supposed to do business with Iranian nationals.

Lionel Hollins is an idiot and is not fit to coach little league. Then again memphis management is not exactly any better.

I understand Haddadi's complaints, but he should either leave the NBA and head to spain or leave the crappy team that is the memphis grizzlies. I honestly could see him being a good back up center or in about 4 years a great center. I honestly don't think he will have trouble landing another NBA team.

i definetly think that haddadi could very well make it as a back up center in other NBA teams, i mean, the guy's not bad, we've all seen the numbers he posted in the 2008 olympics and the last WC, he's good and i definetly think he deserves the chance to play at least some 10 mins/game, staying like that in memphis, and with the way i see things are goin, i dont think his level will evolve at all, it might even regress, and his clock is ticking, he's not getting any younger, so i think it'd be a wise move if he'd think twice about continuing his memphis story, he could be doing a huge career mistake.

Well, I understand that the teams pay for hotels, etc..., but if American's "technically" can't do business with him, then why is he with a U.S. team? Seems hypocritical if he can play for the team but has to pay for the things that players get for free (including Spaniards!).

I really don't see him as anything more then a solid backup, of course I wish the best for him.

Haddadi had his first career double-double with 10 pts, 10 rebs in 20 minutes.

I guess the Grizzlies have no choice but to use him now with Thabeet gone. He showed tonight that he can definitely play, he just needs the time.

Seems like Coach Hollins will be giving him more minutes to play till the end of the season and I sure hope Haddadi takes full advantage of this and shows that he deserves a place in the NBA...

Good to see him getting some play-off time and being effective in limited minutes. It looks like Gasol/Randolph weren't playing great last night, so coach Hollins wanted to see if Haddadi could give them a few good minutes.
