  • Day 2, Round 1 - Group C: Korea - China

The game of the day. The spitfire shooting of Korea will be tested against the Walking Great Wall of China.

Can go either way, though China is more favored because of the home court advantage.

Gregory Stevenson (Moon Tae Young) always sucks international competition as well as Ham Ji-Hoon.

Surprisingly, Gregory Stevenson earns $700,000 USD because of special korean passport.

In principle, South Korea does not allow dual citizenship.

Kim Tae Sul, it's a wonder to me why he was selected.

In what is considered as China's first real test of the tournament. A traditional Asian rival whom they share a colorful history of back and forth triumph, defeat and memorable games. Korean media has been hyping this match since the team groupings were known, often mentioning the match up of Wang Zhelin vs Lee Jong-Hyun, Choi Joon-Young vs Zhai Xiaochuan among others. Both teams feature young and upcoming players in the front-court that is considered to be the pillars for many years to come.

Gong Luming has done a good job in making certain that his young and mobile bigs become more than working pieces but also the catalyst of his offense and avoiding stagnation by making them stand around in the post, waiting for the feed. Gong got them the conditioning needed to run the horns set and Korea must prepare for the onslaught in the front-court. Lee Jong-Hyun and Kim Jong-Kyu are good weak-side shot-blockers and their mobility will be put to good use against defending the big man tractor plays.

From Korea's first game against Jordan, they relied on the offense generated by Yang Dong-Geun, the venerable maestro and combustion engine for their running game. To work in tandem with Yang is Cho Sung-Min, who is charged to curl up and shoot. China's back-court will have to work their dues in stopping Korea's back-court where the offense is generated most of the time. Kim Dong-Kwang runs a beautiful flex as his aspiration is to recapture the past Korean teams of old: quick passes, precise shooting and can play the running game.

Ha Seung-Jin's exit only served this team better to load up on Kim Dong-Kwang's switch and shoot where Lee Seung-Hyun and Kang Sangjae are all sweet-shooting big men.

China hopes to avenge the 2013 defeats in EABC and FIBA Asia in Manila, while Korea is looking to gain confidence and momentum to get into the OQT next year.

Iran-like suffocating defense and hot shooting did wonders for Korea.

Wow, Yang DG! Sick stepback 3! 27-14 Korea.

China team is tall (Yao Ming complex), but lacks the scorer in the mold of Hu Weidong, shooters like Sun Jun, and utility guy like Li Nan. Korea is in control at the moment, but who knows.

That's why Korea will try to widen their lead early. Even if China does the magic tricks they are famous for, they will still lose.

44-30 Korea now. So much for the Walking Great Wall of China.

EDIT: All right, I see China's magic working now, lol.
