  • Day 1, Round 1 - Group C: Korea - Jordan

Two teams facing different problems duke it out on opening day of the FIBA Asia Championship 2015.

With Ha Seung-jin cut from the team due to hip injury, Yoon Ho-Young also succumbing to injury, and Kim Sun-hyung suspended indefinitely pending investigation over game-fixing allegations, Coach Kim Dong-kwang had no choice but no select 3 college players to fill in the void. On the brighter side, they have tapped the services of naturalized player Moon Tae-young (Gregory Stevenson) in place of his older brother Moon Tae-jong (Jarod Cameron Stevenson), who has retired from the Korean NT after the 2014 AG.

Jordan, on the other hand, missed Sam Daghles while in a pocket tournament in China, but got him back in Manila later on while playing tune-up games against local PH ball clubs. They may have rushed their preparations IIRC, but they have a new naturalized player in Alex Legion, they still have Zaid Abbas on the team, and they have Serbian coach Rajko Toroman at the helm, so they can pull off surprises in this group despite being relatively unprepared.

The young mobile bigs of Korea (Lee Jong-hyun, Kim JK, and Lee SH) are expected to carry them in this game, but Jordan still has the Daghles-Abbas duo to help them out. Anything goes, like the other games in the Bracket of Death.

Like what I'm always saying: Korea is still Korea no matter who they send.

As the game progresses I see Jordan closing in and if they execute their plays better, we maybe be looking at another potential day 1 upset. Size matters.

Upset it is, but not as big as the Palestine upset over the Philippines.

So much brilliance from Korea in this early goings but the lead is still in single digit. If there will be a dip in Korea's outside shooting percentage, Jordainians will take advantage.

87-60 Korea. The Koreans ripping the game wide open in the 2nd half.

Korea is still Korea no matter who they send, and they seem to be stronger than ever before.

Korea vs China tomorrow. Fun game.

So far all the favorites except our team has been dominant on the first day
Before: I will easily beat him, God will deliver him into my hands!

After: I had a shoulder injury!

Wow, Jordan just got demolished by sokor... Not that surprising though as their golden generation came to an end a few years ago

On the other hand Korea showing why they are always a favourite to win a medal at asian competitions.

Did Zaid Abbas and Sam Daghles play this game? Sad to see them getting beaten like this.

And how sad indeed when all the favorites except us are winning their games.

korea was on fire and jordan was just hmm "awful". they played poorly including their naturalized player alex legion? def. the golden years of jordan is over. good game by korea but they were hardly tested in this game. their real test would be against china and their opponents in the 2nd round.

                            Alex Legion it is.

Would be a good game tomorrow vs China.

Yes they both played and started the game.

Man you're even more down than your players, i'm sure they'll bounce back and later on you will see this loss as a blessing.
