Well, basketball is not math, and the score between different teams does not mean too much. The difference between a 3 point loss and a 6 point loss is an extra missed 3 pointer. I saw the game between CHN vs LIB and JOR earlier, one thing they have in common is that CHN is in control of the whole situation. Even though both LIB and JOR come in very close, in both occasions CHN pulled away with one or two nice plays.
SOme of the body languages have shown me that CHN player never thought about losing either games. One of the difference is that by the end of the game, when LIB/JOR scored a critical shot and came in close, their players jumped up and down and cheered like there's no tomorrow, but when CHN returned the favor one play later, their player/bench was relatively calm. Yesterday when WZZ shot a 2 and 1 when JOR was like 3 point behind with 20 seconds left, he and his teammate were pretty calm, and if you saw his face on the TV, he has very little emotions. No panic, no hugging, no tear dropping drama. IT's almost like saying "I told you we got this one". That WZZ shot eventually crippled the JOR plan because now they were forced to rush 3 pointers which never hit. Both JOR and LIB came really close, but as you might aware, 1 point loss is a loss.
I don't know how many times CHN have won this cup, but it seem like that their players have such a psychological supeority over their asian rivals that they can't see themselves losing. It is common to be scared or panic when your rival is like 1 point behind, you, but for CHN team last night, That thought of "omg we are screwed tonight" doesn't seems to be there. Even though many teams (Like JOR and LIB) have shown that they are up there with the "big boys", CHN still have the " I am better than you" mentality. No one can tell how long this mentality will last, but last night and the night before, I saw this kind of attitude towards LIB and JOR.
If I have to rate those three teams (i don't know Iran too much)
i would rank
0. CHN with yao
1. CHN with out yao
2. LIB (physical games w/ good bigs beat guards, the paint is where games are won, or lost)
3. JOR (they have shown that they can beat LIB when things are going alright, but i would rank a guard oriented team behind a Big man oriented team, if they seem to be on the same level)
thank you CHN LIB JOR for making this AC a lot more fun to watch. BB doesn't need 100 pt blowout.Last edited by masketball; 08-12-2009, 09:39 PM.

the all mighty Russia has an American player.it was just one of those plans to improve the game in general, and to tell u the truth rashiem will be last naturalized player..palma insisted to bring a good player to improve the all over performance and it wasnt easy procedure it went to the king him self to sign his papers and its the first time in our country to do so just for the sake of our NT other wise foreigners never get the jordanian ID no matter what.
but as u said this is still good generaly for the sake of the asian BB.

The problem with us is that not all NBA talent would want to play for his country (sad isn't it) or play at full force. because if they got injured, their upcomming season is screwed. They get paid playing NBA games, and international games are not their focus. That changed until U.S got smoked by Greece few years earlier, the pride of U.S basketball was crippled for the next few years. Now more people in the U.S realized that the world is catching up and we can't beat them with out our best. Look at 08 OC, we send out our elite squad, and our average victory margin is double digit.Last edited by masketball; 08-13-2009, 01:52 AM.

The question is : "can a country w/ 1 billion people that loves basketball produce some more asia/world level talent?" I am not surprised if they do. By looking at the previous asia junior game, CHN pretty much pwned everybody until that game which they withdrew from the game. CHN is the last country in asia that i would worry about a continous supply of talent. If yao retires now, CHN will face a shortage but not as bad as some thought. Yi...cough...cough...jianlian. A 20 year old (Okay...24 year old) with high potential. If yao decide that he will play once again, asia teams are toast. He pwned everybody in 08 Olympics, i would expect total domination at asia's level. I doubt his condition would allow him to play for CHN, but NBA is where he belongs anyways.

west asian teams will be doing the same since they will be motivated by the results they achieved ,lets say jordan and lebanon make it to the WC, this will force the local federations to work harder to keep those achievments
and even try farther more than playing in the WC,but even advancing to the second round or so, it may take some time and patience, but it will pay off
later on.
