So you are guaranteeing that were the championships to be held in the Philippines the stadiums would be packed regardless if the Philippines or say Bangladesh was playing. Does your whole nation shut down or something when there is a basketball game seriously. Your country can't get the opportunity to host because it doesn't have the financial capabilities to host it so don't try and blame it on the fans. Plus it's not like there isn't enough Filipinos in Tianjin to watch it anyways.

You put it in any country, even the USA, and games between crappy little teams will not draw attendance because they suck and nobody cares for them. Even in the NBA, you'd figure with all that money and flare people would come to see teams. The Kings averaged barely 12,000 some fans a game, while the top team Pistons almost double team. The reason is the Kings suck and are not worth watching.
You need to take a chill. i don't know where you get your arrogance but i was asking an honest question. You see, i just want basketball to be as popular as say, football around the world--- bit by bit this is achieved in small(er) tournaments such as this one.

i never said the the Philippines has the financial capabilities (i have zero idea how much it costs to run this event) but i assure you we won't have as many empty seats as what i see on television because of the support of basketball here. i am not saying at all that we can fill a Sri Lanka-Indonesia game but our fans are knowledgeable of the better teams in the field. Teams like Iran, Lebanon, China, Jordan and maybe even Japan, Taiwan and Qatar people would have been watching even if it's against a lowly team because we appreciate good players and good basketball (even one-sided)

But anyway, i think by the quarters the Tianjin stadium would be at least half-full. Or at least, that's what i am hoping.
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am NOT going.

The organizing capability is the concern
All the money gained from broadcasting rights go straight to FIBA Asia not the host city.
The main income for the host city would come from ticket sales and fans travelling from different countries to see the tournament. Judging from this tournament, you think its profittable?

Fair enough, but I was simply calling it as I saw it and my past experiences with fans and basketball in China. NBA first, CNT second, and CBA third. One reason could be is that going to the national games of another nation is betraying your own. The games are held in China, and the fans are suppose to support China, so what incentive is there to go to another nation's match and give them support. It's just a different state of mind.

And my reference to the Philippines hosting the championships were from that other thread about which country should host. And i'm very chill now man... VERY VERYYYY chill

I really doubt Pilipino fans would miss work to go to the stadium to watch China vs Jordan, or Lebanon vs Iran, examples of the top teams matchups. Especially since the tournaments requires all games to be played in one day, and most games are played before 5pm, end of the work day. To infuse pilipino fan's knowledge of the bball is ridiculous, doesn't matter how passionate, how knowledgeable you are of the sport, you still are not missing work to watch another country play.

We aren't seeing the same thing then. i would pay and watch and miss my work (without pay) to watch the teams you mentioned at any time. i guess we all different have definition or levels of basketball passion. And i can leave it at that.

there are 2 reasons why crowds are watching FIBA Asia now:

                1. payback for China against Iran
                2. Philippines is back
