Powerade-Team Pilipinas beat Korea, 88-74, to nail its third victory on Saturday in the 25th FIBA-Asia men's basketball championship in Tianjin, China.

Asi Taulava, Jayjay Helterbrand. and Gabe Norwood shone for Team Pilipinas in the last minutes of the game to assure victory.


The boys, under the tutelage of coach Yeng Guiao, took an 8-0 lead at the start of the game and an 11-2 lead before the Koreans got their game going. The Filipinos ended the first quarter just three points behind, 19-22.

The Koreans took the half at 43-41 as they connected from the three-point area and the Filipinos somehow lost their shooting touch. Errors like a lane violation by Helterbrand in the last one-minute before halftime added to the Filipinos' woes.

Hey, this isn't the PBA wherein the refs have a telescope to see if you stuck your foot underneath the jump shooter..intimidate those Korean bombers, the Pinoy style!!..

--baguio must step-up, and try to penetrate to the basket same as miller, dillinger, and norwood(i think he'll be more effective in this type of gameplay),shot if free and clear..

otherwise if there's no clear shots seen...

--beyond the arc lane we'll surely be free, then players like pennisi, helterbrand, santos can surely put 3's.

-- for center position i think asi and thoss, is a good partner, as what we've seen yesterday, asi's assists to thoss we're converted easily. for japeth he'll surely dominate the blocking department.

--kerby! i think this is you're time to shine, i could still remember of last years jones cup, kirby was unstoppable against big guys of, although he was outsized(i forgot that team, i think it's lebanon), 'coz asi was fouled out, and he was the only guy who's capable enough for the center position...

Hey, this isn't the PBA wherein stucking your foot underneath your opponents' isn't allowed..intimidate those Korean bombers..

Just don't intimidate the referees like what your used to in the pba. PBA refs have nightmares after the game because of Mick's intimidation. Just nightmares because they're used to it. But intimidate FIBA referees, they'll have nightmares and phobias that will last a lifetime.
