consolation price if youre the unlucky one to be grouped with 3 of the top 9 or i say 9 good teams if you have sri lanka and by the way it depends in uzbekistan budget or finances if they can send their best team to be a dark horse/headache and for me i doubt it
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

We need fiba asia tournament to be well represented from all areas subzones and for the first place no one considering the stankovic cup seriously last year "yan tuloy nasampolan ni Dato Yeoh", trans: now they are experiencing the difficulties of not playing in that tournament

The sub-zone president comes from Sri Lanka. You do the math. Even Afghanistan is stronger...but I guess they are still fighting over who is the federation's president and who is supposed to play (US-based or AFG-based players).Too bad, as it would have been interesting to watch them once again after their coming-out in Doha.

Sri Lanka once sent a official national Handball-team to Germany...people wondered why the had trouble to stick to the rules. After two games, the whole team disappeared. They all used the trip to get over to Europe to work illegally, they never played handball before, so it was a big fraud.True story.

Maby you can say that is politics of sports.
But what will you say about all of the 5team (Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Jordan, India and Qatar)who play in the 2008 FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup in Kuwait had been granted seeds in the Asian Championship ,and before that Game most of Asia country don't konw the 2008 FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup is the qualifie GAME.

Blame both of that on FIBA Asia.

So I think FIBA Asia should hold another competition ,and the 5 team (Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Jordan, India and Qatar) and the 3th and the 4th team of five subzones play in the competition.
The top 5 will qualifier to the 2009 Asian Men's Basketball Championship in Tianjin, China.
I think if FIBA Asia do that the top 5 will not like the 5 team of 2008Stankovic Cup .

precisely, its unfair..and it is wrong..so to correct such wrong is to do another wrong? if that's the case, all the other strong teams such us lebanon, iran, china, etc..doesn't have to go to qualifying again and just wait for the free ticket ride..WTF

Wow, that's a good point. If we sent a mediocre team, we could have lost 2 games there, 1 against Malaysia and another against Indonesia. The result could be a disaster to our basketball program. I admit that both of them improved a lot now. They must not be taken for granted in future tournaments. Lucky for us the result was the other way around.

I think the news of http://www.asia-basket is not very accurate.

As I Konw the FIBA World has many interrogation of the 5 team (Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Jordan, India and Qatar) of 2008 FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup who get the seeds easilly.
And Taiwan may has the seeds , but we don't how Taiwan to get the seeds .
So let's wait for the FIBA Asia.
