Japan beat China B. That means Korea and Japan advance to the finals and to the FIBA championships in Tianjin.

who is that #9 of koreq nt?its the 1st time i saw him and he seems to be the leader of the team?

“Hindi ko na inaano ‘yun (mapasama sa pool) eh,” Santos said. “Kung susumahin mo ang buhay naming mga player, ‘san ba talaga ang first priority namin, ‘di ba? Ang first priority ko, dahil dito ko nakuha lahat ng kagandahan ng buhay ko at para sa pamilya ko, ang San Miguel. Alam naman ng lahat ‘yun. Ito ang dapat kong paglingkuran.”

Korea triumphed in the East Asian Championship - Jun 15, 2009 (by Eurobasket News)
                Korea -Japan 68:58

Korea triumphed in the East Asian Championship winning the Final game over Japan 68:58. It was a great game from both teams as they finished the opening quarter with 19:19. Korea grabbed 38:37 at the half and could increase the lead later in the third. After 15-12 in the third frame the winners took 53:49 lead. Korea added 15-9 in the last quarter to clinch the first place in the tournament. Kim Min Soo led Korea with 16 points. Joo Hee Jung and Bang Sung Yoon each scored 13. Kosuke Takeuchi (205-C/F-85) had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Japan and Joji Takeuchi (205-C-85) had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Before that Korea overcame Chinese Taipei 86:71 to advance to the finals. Trailing 15-17 in the opening quarter, Kore produced 17-9 in the second period to stay in front. An offensive 28-27 in the third period gave the winners 6 points advantage after 20 minutes of the game. Another 26-18 sent Korea to the Finals of the East Asian Championship. The winners got 19 points from Kim Min Soo. Yang Che-Yi ended up with 21 points for Taipei.
Both teams made the Asian Championships, along with automatically invited China.

                Korea:Kim Min-Soo (204-C-82) 16 points, Joo Hee-Jung (181-G-77) 13, Bang Sung Yoon 13.
Japan: Kosuke Takeuchi 14 points and 12 rebounds, Joji Takeuchi 12 points and 10 rebounds.
                Eurobasket made mistake again.
it was Oh Se-Keun who scored 13 point against Japan.
                (not Bang Sung-Yoon)

Bang Sung-Yoon did not played cuz of knee injury..
(he played only 10 min(4Q) vs HongKong to check his injury)

                I really want korea nt's healthy line-up

                    so far so good..

He lead his pro team(KCC) to Champion in KBL.
(so he was picked as NT head coach)

but he started head coach just 2 or 3 years ago,
and he is very hot tempered person.
but I think, his attitued for NT is good.

And people said he is very lucky guy..
he picked Kim Joo-Sung as Dongbu assistant coach,
and picked Ha Seung-Jin as KCC head coach..
and more he picked tony akins(a.k.a Chun Tae-Pung) last draft..

※ I hoped Kim Nam-Ki continue his NT head coach job..
If coach K(also Kim Nam-Ki's nickname) contiues his job,
I could expect we win the championship.

I think his attitude would bring back the fire in your team. I not only remember Hur Jae as a heavy scorer but also having a winner's mentality when he still played. My favorite asian player (aside from Allan Caidic of course).

                        • So, it's gonna be a very exciting FIBA Asia after all. With China, Korea, Japan, Iran as the Powerhouse teams, I think Philippines, the underdog, can pull an upset there. I'm optimistic about that.

                          • The Philippines has a very realistic chance of getting into top the top three. I really don't know how Iran is going to do this time. They have a new coach and everybody knows that Toroman was instrumental for that team's success.
                            clothesline, anyone?

                              more Korean NT news..
(C__d, this time i write here ^^; cuz I thought many people better to know about Jin-Soo's family name.)

recentely KBA(Korea Basketball Association) announced Choi Jin-Soo(he changed his family name Kim to Choi in court, as I said before in this forum, cuz his family history) and Kim Joo-Sung join NT roster instead of Bang Sung-Yoon and Choo Seung-Gyun. And papaers said Ha Seung-Jin will join after jones Cup.

and today's papers said, Lee Seung-Jun(a.k.a Daniel Sandrin) and Chun Tae-Pung(a.k.a tony akins) counld't pass the written examination for Korean citizenship.(both scored 50points, they need to score more than 60 point to pass the written examination). thay will try again at july 1st.

Ha Seung-Jin joining the Korean roster would change alot of things for the Korean NT in the Asian Championships. Korea now becomes the favorite from their group again.
