because our team is easy to scout and can be beaten if the opposing team is familiarized to the very shallow system..
Group A: IRAN
Group B: LEBANON
Group C: KOREA
Group D: KAZAKHSTAN
there will be another group of death..if jordan and philippines comes out in the same group..or another scenario is in any group where philippines was drawn, china has the right to pick its group right? then china might cherry pick the group where philippines is..its 100% sure we cant defeat them..so i think china would pick the group where pinas is..

i think china will chose a group that they will have an easy time...they dont want to go thru past preliminaries with injuries...choosing philippines as groupmate will be a dangerous option for them...
i think indonesia,RP and these teams are Pool C teams .... Group A seems like the group of death with 3 very good teams and Group C seems like the weakest qatar is really a bad team now worse than kazakhaztan ....China is supposed to pick Group C or maybe 2nd case Group B ...I know they will not pick Group A and they would be really stupid if they pick our group not knowing the level of Jordan and Lebanon and it would especially bad for us having China but that should not happen ...if it doesnt than this isnt a hard group for Lebanon cuz we know whatever happens Lebanon and Jordan will be in the 2nd round ...its kind of like the group in 2005(Lebanon,Jordan,India and HongKong) ....
easy groupe for Lebanon although Jordan are getting better and spending a lot of money on camps but still they lack inside presence when they would face us......they can not defend our 5 great scorers, although Group A seems to be so tough

I'm not worried about Lebanon. Iran can beat your team in 2nd gear.
MANILA, Philippines – This time, Lady Luck appeared to have smiled on Team Philippines.
In what basketball officials readily labeled as the “Group of Hope," the Powerade-Team Pilipinas drew a favorable bracket in the coming 25th FIBA-Asia men’s basketball championship.
The drawing of lots for the August 6-16 meet in Tianjin, China was held Wednesday in the Chinese city, with the Nationals ending up being bracketed in Group A together with Japan, South Korea and Sri Lanka.
The Group A roster is definitely less dangerous than the one Team Philippines ended up in the 2007 edition of the FIBA-Asia tournament when it was grouped with powerhouse teams China, Jordan and eventual champion Iran.
“I think we have a good chance to make it to the next round," national coach Yeng Guiao said upon learning his team's grouping. “It’s really a change of fortune. Of course we know Korea and Japan are no pushovers, but we will do our homework scouting them."
Powerade-Team Pilipinas manager JB Baylon and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Noli Eala were in Tianjin to observe the proceedings.
“We were blessed with a competitive grouping," said Baylon in a statement.
“But we must still be able to turn opportunity into success, and that will require a lot of determination and hardwork on the part of Powerade-Team Pilipinas and coach Yeng Guiao, plus the unflinching support of and prayers from the basketball loving Filipino nation."
The reigning champion Iran is bunched with Chinese Taipei, Kuwait and Uzbekistan in Group B while Group C – definitely the toughest of `em all – has China, Qatar, Kazakshtan and India.
Lebanon, runner up to Iran two years ago, heads Group D together with Jordan, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates.
The PBA-backed Team Pilipinas is competing at the Asian tilt with a mission of not only reclaiming lost glory in the continent but also earning a ticket to next year's world championship. - GMANews.TV
FOR FLAG AND COUNTRY AND THE PBA !
TEAM PILIPINAS ! WE BELIEVE !
Can anyone re-hash the format. Correct me please if i am wrong;
Top 2 from the group stages (single round robin) advances to the quarters; then in the quarters, group A meets group B (crossover) and C to D, right?
Format
The teams will be divided into four groups (Groups A-D) for the preliminary round.
Round robin for the preliminary round; the top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.
Group A's and C's topnotchers are grouped with Group B's and D's runners-up (Group I) while Group A's and C's runners-up are grouped with Group B's and D's topnotchers (Group II) for a round-robin play.
The topnotcher of Group I meets the runner-up of Group II while the topnotcher of Group II meets the runner-up of Group I in the sudden-death semifinals.
The winners in the semifinals dispute the championship while the losers dispute the third-place trophy, all sudden-death games.
Teams eliminated from the preliminary round will be split into two groups (III and IV), in the same way as Groups I and II were split; the teams with the same positions play for the 9th place (group winners), 11th place (group runners-up), and so on.
stupid american hahah Lebanon will win this time for sure
Granadaddy is not an American! He is simply a Filipino guy hiding behind an American flag, who likes to attack Lebanon...
What betrayed him is the following post: when someone asked when was the last time that Phillipines NT faced Japan, he answered the following:
2002 Busan Asian Games, the was a close game and I believe that was our last win in that tournament. We incurred three consecutive losses against China, Korea, and Kazakhstan.
