    New Update. Version 1.5

This is an electronic scoreboard for FIBA fans! Its designed to be simple to use, which is the beauty of it. You'll be amazed at how useful it would be for the FIBA Asia championship.

    Update: Version 1.5 (July 29 2007)
    1. Fixed updates made in 1.4 that caused quotient system error
    2. Here's the new link:
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/qkz2ix

    Update: Version 1.4 (July 28 2007)
    1. Minor update. Improve quotient system handling at early stage (teams at 1-0 and 0-1).

    Update: Version 1.3 (July 26 2007)
    1. Fixed a flaw in handling 3-way 2-1 situation with the bottom two 2-1 teams on quotient being tied there as well. (For example, A, B, C tied at 2-1, A have +3 quotient and B,C have -2 quotient, the team that would have the right to 2nd place is the team that won the match between B&C.)

    Quick Update: Version 1.2 (July 20 2007)
    1. The FIBA website had Lebanon-Kuwait and Japan-UAE twice.
    2. Updated the schedules to correct the error on the FIBA website.

    Update: Version 1.1 (July 20 2007)
    1. Added official FIBA dates and time schedules for easier tracking
    2. Fixed a flaw in handling 3-way 2-1 or 1-2 ties, by making use of the quotient system more accurately.
    3. Improved handling of the more difficult combo "3-way tie"-"quotients tie".
    4. Added capability to track 3rd to 8th placers.
    5. Overall usability improvements

    Version 1.0 (July 11 2007)
    1. Full compliance to the FIBA Asia format
    2. Automatically sort the group standings
    3. Automatically determines who will advance if there are tie standings
    4. Automatically compute diferrential margins for tiebreak

Nice. You seem to be doing a better job than whoever is in charge of the FIBA Asia website.
First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

During the FIBA World 2006, FIBA released an electronic scoreboard similar to this that became my inspiration here. However, after using it, I was disappointed in its inaccuracy especially in computing for tiebreak situations and applying quotient system, which happens a lot. So I would say this is an improvement over that.

          Thanks for the feedback!

Edited: I just attached the file for easy download

Lets use this thread to share our own predictions using this tool, here's mine. Have fun:
we have basically the same quarterfinalist and semifinalists.. And with this set up, Philippines has more of a chance to win-it-all..

wow....good work Jayphcool. nice stats. so based on your stats, RP will win. Is this the same method used when a group from businessmen around the world predicted Italy to win the World Cup (Soccer)? Before the World Cup, everybody was saying Brazil, Germany and Argentina would win until this press release came from a business group stating on the contrary that Italy would instead win it. and everyone was astounded when Italy indeed won the WC....hope your computations are correct.

Thanks buddy. The computations are correct, but this is not a statistical simulation or something, this is merely a prediction.

By the way, I have updated this file to version 1.1. Please see the post at the start of the thread regarding changes. Enjoy
