  • Without bias, I say Philippines is 2nd.

    1. China
    2. - 3. Philippines
    2. - 3. South Korea
    4. Chinese Taipei
    5. Lebanon

I lowly regard Qatar. In their last 4 games against Philippine teams (Selecta, Happee in 2002 and San Miguel in 2005) They were defeated by an average of 15 points. Qatar NT is overrated. And so is Lebanon. Philippines NT and Chinese Taipei NT are the darkhorses while South Korea has reached its peak and is going down.

    • today's top 4 teams in Asia
      1.china
      2.Lebanon
and no particular order of S.Korea and Qatar

Japan, Philippines, Iran and Jordan might have 40% of chances to surprise Korean and qatari.

Qatar is the same team as always. Lebanon, we will see. RP I don't know about, I wish them the best of luck but considering they havnt been together for a long time I wouldn't be suprised if they crash and burn.
our B team will have 5 tune up games in the coming week, 3 against our A team (No Yaoming and No Yi Jianlian) and 2 against an Australian club team. If they could manage losing no more than 20 points, I will say they are still a contender in the coming FIBA-asian championship.

        • hey, im a filipino, pinoy ako!mkinig kayo pls listen. for god's sake, pls! let's stop being excessively proud of our NT. im proud of it but not to the point i keep sying that it beat lebanon, we won bronze in world 50yrs ago blah blah blah.... we keep saying it's the most dangerous whatever.. all i want us is to look at the present, not at statistics, past stuffs, etc. also, lets give compliments to our team but let's not be sooo comparative.

anyways, good luck rp team on your upcoming tourneys! kaya nyu yan!

          • Basing on recent results from the FIBA-Asia Champions cup.

In no particular order. Any team can be 1,2,3,4.

1-4. China, Lebanon, S. Korea, Qatar.

I would have to disagree with you that Lebanon is overrated. Their good showing in last year's WC, their consistent dominance in the FIBA-Champions cup over the last couple/several years, and their consistent strong performance in the FIBA-Asia Championship show that they are indeed a strong team.

This is funny. Gauging by the results of Asia Clubs Championships. is this a joke?

China and korea are not even part of it. haha, this is funny. pinoy nga naman. If

RP team wins, we had a lot of praises, but if the team losses, kambyo agad.

                haha..

You misuderstood me. What I meant was that basing on the results of FIBA-Asia Champions Cup RP is not doing well. Before FIBA-Asia Champions Cup I had RP together with China, Lebanon and S. Korea, in no particular order, from 1-4. Now, since RP is performing poorly in the recent tournament, I lowered their position from top 4. Ok? Ohh and by the way I'm not changing lanes. If you would have read my posts over last few years here at interbasket you would have found out that I am a strong supporter of the PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM.

                  • Hi,

Its funny that more filipinos are feeling bitter with the results of the Asian Clubs Championship. They wont still accept the real objective and goal of Chot and the RP team. The ABC olympic qualifyer will always be the priority, and thats the reason why Chot took his boys to the Asian Clubs Championship. Playing against top Asian Clubs will certainly give the RP team the much neede test and experience. It doesnt mean that when the RP joined this tournamnet, is that were here to sweep off the opposition. Thats a big no, since some of the teams here are reinforced by imports. So I guess, Filipinos should not be concern when they see RP team is getting beaten. Coz what hurts me the most, is that some Filipinos in this forum doesnt know how to coach, but when they throw bad things against Coach Chot, is like they're a coaching God and knows everything. And thats not right. When RP team is winning, all I see is smiling faces. Now, when RP team is losing, everyones against Coach Chot. What's the problem with you Filipinos? Coach Chot has the most sacrifice of all coaches in the Phils. He took the job, even though he knows, that there'll be much criticism on his part. Now, no one wants to believe him that RP team is just using this as a kick-off tournament. We're still fresh from that 2yr suspension, and if you're a smart ass, you wouldn't point your fingers to anyone, espcially to coach chot. I, myself is a basketball coach too, and its hard for me to be criticized by people who doesnt know anything about coaching. So guys, lets keep our heads up, the real prize is the ABC championship, regardless of what happened here in the Asian Clubs Championship. Cheers.

                    • Totally agree with you. As a fan I am very disappointed with the losses that we have. However, I remain optimistic because I know the quality of players that we have and the plan that coach chot said (in his interview). What I can't take is that other filipinos lambasting the team for their poor performance. It's ok to be disappointed. Let me put it this way, a good sword is forged by fire.

No man i didnt misunderstood you. You cant base the performance of our RP team just because were losing in a clubs tournament. RP team has yet to use some of its dreaded trapping defense, as well as their 3 guard combo offense. Those things are yet to be use since Chot and RP team is using this as a kick-off tournament. May I ask you, what are your reason when you said RP team is not doing well? Is it because were'nt winning games in this tournament?

ei lets just be cool, we all are patriotic about our country.... ehehe! right now we just need to pray for our own NT to do good on the most impt. games.
It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me... I'm the best there is the best there was and the best there it will be.

I know what you mean. The performance that I evaluated is the performance of RP in this tourney. We lost some games, we can't be going up in rankings right? However, I am confident that we are better than this.
