    Interesting read:

Ha Seung-Jin struggling on defense in the KBL with the FIBA rules in tow. There has been discussion this month about Ha Seung-Jin being called up for the national team again after some months back, he was called up despite him not being ready physically and mentally.

I think Ha Seung-Jin can still be serviceable with his height and rebounding, but it will have an adverse affect with South Korea's Mike D'Antoni screen and roll offense under Yoo Jae-Hak. Seung-Jin has no perimeter shot unlike Kim Jong-Kyu and Lee Jong-Hyun. On defense, Ha Seung-Jin does not have the mobility and agility to defend an agile bigman in the pick and roll situations, especially when the said situation is on the high baseline.

In KCC Egis, Hur Jae uses a 1-baseline box so Seung-Jin need not be lured all the way to the baseline. Seung-Jin clogs the elbows while the other four forms a floating box with DeShawn Sims and Tyler Wilkerson often running back to cover the high opposite in case of a breach.

South Korea has the following to consider for the center spot:

    Kim Jong-Kyu
    Lee Jong-Hyun
    Jang Jae-Seok

But if Ha Seung-Jin will be considered for the initial 15 man, Kim Jong-Kyu or Jang Jae-Seok can definitely play PF.

Ha should be a vital part of the team..but with the way Haddadi's playing lately they might not need it lol.. Seriously I think he will be included in the 15 man pool
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

I think so too. Seung-Jin is averaging 13pts and 10rebs currently for KCC Egis under the KBL's FIBA rules. The retirement of Kim Joo-Sung opens up a spot that will most likely be filled by a qualified veteran; in this case Seung-Jin.

Oh can match up with the fajardo's but I don't think he, JongKyu or Jong Hyun can match up with the Slaughters

The only bigman that South Korea has no chance in stopping is Andray Blatche, but partially you're right if the Philippines fields a platoon consisting of Blatche, Slaughter and Fajardo. This time around, there will be no OCA eligibility applied.

Meanwhile, teammates Lee Seung-Hyun and Jang Jae-Seok from the Goyang Orions have made it their mission to finally make the national team after numerous cuts. Lee Seung-Hyun has been cut since 2012 and was cut three times. Jang Jae-Seok was first called up last year and was cut twice.

Both will need to compete against Kim Jong-Kyu, Lee Jong-Hyun, Oh Se-Keun and Ha Seung-Jin.

Seung-Hyun plays PF and SF. Jang can play C and PF.

Apparently, Lee Jong-Hyun will begin his one month training in North America, under the USBA athlete camp.

Snippets from the year end ceremony by the KBA on which the board and officials were present alongside KBL, WKBL players and media.

                1. After overloading the national teams with veterans this year, Korea is leaning on developing more talent from the youth for them to mature for this year's EABC, FIBA Asia and the new FIBA format for qualifying for the next world cup.

                2. KBA President spoke about flexibility and accommodation of the KBL and WKBL for FIBA competitions starting in 2017.

                3. Improving ties with Asia - Pacific such as New Zealand and Taiwan.

                4. Revamping national team training schedules not just after the KBL and WKBL seasons.

                5. More programs for young men and women in basketball clinics.

                6. Hosting future FIBA Asia events such as youth competitions and 3X3 competitions.

As a part of the KBL All-Star weekend, the national team from last year suited up once more to play the KBL Stars Selection.

After the game, Moon Tae-Jong stated that he wants to see his younger brother Moon Tae-Young take his place in the national team. Game was played in a friendly atmosphere where both teams played minimal defense in a run and gun fashion.

Status of several national team players in which their teams have not qualified for the playoffs.

Cho Sung-Min (Busan KT) - Will need rest and recuperation for healing his affected knee
Oh Se-Keun (Anyang KGC) - Stated he wanted to take some time off
Park Chan-Hee (Anyang KGC) - Early vacation, trip to Maldives
Yang Hee-Jong (Anyang KGC) - Recuperation from injuries
Ha Seung-Jin (KCC Egis) - Surgery in reparing nasal fracture
Kim Tae-Sol (KCC Egis) - Recuperation from injuries. He has been playing injured for the past two years
Kim Min-Goo (KCC Egis) - Good thing is that he can walk straight. Conditioning maybe a problem
Kim Jun-Il (Samsung Thunder) - He's healthy and stated that he wants to compete for the national team spot
Choi Jin-Soo (Sangmoo Phoneix) - Armed forces service, can be called up for national team duties

The way Kim Si-Rae is playing in the KBL playoffs for LG against Goyang, this sparks his stock for the upcoming national pool to be unveiled next month. In 2013 and 2014, Kim Si-Rae was part of the pool but Yoo Jae-Hak preferred veterans.

With Seoul SK's ouster from the KBL playoffs, Kim Sun-Hyung and Choi Buk-Young are now on vacation and will be ready once the committee calls up their names. Kim is a mainstay while Choi is looking unlikely as there are bigger and younger players in the pool.

It is unclear if SK Knights will attend spring athletics in Las Vegas for their annual training.
