  • Yuki Togashi in North America

Akita's Yuki Togashi is now working with the Dallas Mavericks summer league roster. Last summer, Takuya Kawamura (Wakayama NBL) tried out with the Phoenix Suns and Okinawa's Narito Namizato with New York.

Good read. Atleast Togashi is being appreciated unlike the forgettable stints of Kosuke Takeuchi. This will make Togashi even better if he returns to Akita in the following months after getting a really good off-season in the NBA summer league. His stature has him in a disadvantage in scoring and bigger players that can cover just as quick as he is.

Unlikely that Togashi will secure a training camp invite but it would be awesome if he would. A D-League tryout or draft could also be in the running.

Yuki Togashi is the best player so far for Japan in the Jones Cup. Leading scorer, assists maker, steals and leading them in FG%. Fewest TO. Togashi happens to be the smallest player too.

He has built muscles on his upper body since 2011 and much of that physique progress has been with his club team, Akita where he lifted weights but they had him focus on core strengthening and conditioning. Togashi at 5'7 at best will not overpower anyone so it would be best if he maintains his speed, flexibility with that low center of gravity for shifting directions on his dribble game.

Good luck but he almost never played in the Asian Games from what I saw. Since Japan did a lot better than expected (and couldn't really do much better), you can't say that it was wrong to bench him either.

Mavs sign Yuki Togashi to a non-guaranteed deal according to sources.
The Dallas Mavericks signed 5-foot-7 Japanese point guard Yuki Togashi on Wednesday.

From the article, Mavs plan on keeping Togashi for the duration of the pre-season and have him hone his skills in the D-League.

Hope his stint isn't short lived like that of Yuta Tabuse with the Suns 10 years ago...

Waived by the Mavericks but is bound for the D-League.

“My objective is to play a season in the D-League, get into games and do well,”
Togashi's home club, Akita are said to be 100% behind him on his decision to continue his playing in Texas.

Unless he's 100x better than when he played at Montrose I can't see it happening.

It doesn't matter how big he is,everyshot that goes in. He can hang with NBA players - super big and tall. He makes me remember abt character Miyagi Ryota of Slam Dunk )))) It's real.

He has that good rainbow arc shot compared to his rookie year with Akita.
An NBA Summer League sensation with the Dallas Mavericks, 5-foot-7 Japanese point guard Yuki Togashi broke out with 11 points, including three three-pointers...
