And this is not including names like Arsalan Kazemi, Amir Sedighi and Saleh Foroutannik just to name a few...

Guys like Mehdi Kamrani and Samad Bahrami can start thinking about retiring from the NT in the near future as there are capable Iranian young prospects who can fill their gap as of now and very near future.

Behnam Yakhchali's (197-SG-95) stats for today:

    18 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3PT FG, 2-2FT), 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 0 Turnovers in 30:43 minutes of play!

Seems you have been scouting Iranian youngsters very very accurately dear Khalid ...

Yes the three names you mentioned in Mashayekhi(earned himself a huge consideration for the Seniors WC this year with his performance), Yakhchali and Jamshidi are true talents that must develop their games quickly to fill up Kamrani, Afagh and Samad's spots, though the 3 older folks still have a 2-3 year run in them.

The most important note that i wanted to see these years in Team Melli was who is gonna take the responsibility of taking the team on his shoulders and being a true leader after Samad is gone (We know that neither one of Haddadi or Kazemi are true team leaders). I think we got the answer in the last 6 months and that guy is Behnam Yakhchali... A calm young player that even calms down a player like Haddadi in panic times. in a year or 2 he will be more vocal and i think he will take over the leading job pretty soon.

About the game it just shows that when our long range game is at it's normal level (though it was slighlty better than normal today!) we are able to take advantage in the paint and it open lanes for our cutters.. Haddadi was being the facilitator and showed his basketball IQ in at least 9-10 possessions today. Our rebounding has taken a huge boost since Arsalan joined the team, he just boxes out like a beast... Good to see our guards competing on the boards as Mashayekhi and Yakhchali have both shown to be elite rebounders for their position. Lets see how they'll do in the Final...

P.S : About the rising talents in Iran i think we should all remember this name... Mohamad Yousefvand...This guy is a massive talent for a kid being U18.. We'll hear from him a lot in the U18 WC tournament

Mamnoon Behzadir bro.. I have always been intrigued how the Iranian bball federation and Iranian teams are continuously being able to develop new young talents especially these last couple of years.. Iran is consistently being able to compete in the Asian youth tournaments and that's why Iran will always continue to have a dominant presence in Asia even after the top current stars retire.

Definitely has to be one of the most improbable come back wins in quite a while now... However a win is a win so congrats to Gilas Philippines as they never gave up the whole game and kept fighting till the end.

                      • Tough luck for Chinese Taipei and congrats for Iran for the hard fought win! All the players gave it all they have on court but especially Kazemi, Haddadi and Jamshidi

And great overall tournament for Iran's youngsters Yakhchali, Mashayekhi and if we want to consider Jamshidi as a youngster as well

                        • wow, they let TPE to score 79 !! probably because we had a very tall lineup today because of injuries, being tall is not always good, good game overall from both sides. Taiwan is really good.

I hope Yakhchali recovers soon, it was so sad to hear him screaming in pain

man I love Oshin, he is not the most talented player in the team but he is a hard worker, he dedicated himself to the team. coaches love players like him.

                            • India finish 7th after thrashing Singapore 85-36. It was a great tournament probably one of the most important tournaments which has won lot of new fans all over the country.

Should build on this success and I'm expecting Professional League to be launched this year or by 2015 definitely, duration of the league will be 2 months but might increase in future.

                              Here we come Asia !

EDIT: Amjyot Singh finished as top scorer with 103 points
