Good news, the Philippines will be able to participate.
The PBA thumbed down the proposed participation of Gilas Pilipinas in the season-ending Governors' Cup but vowed to compress the schedule further to give way for a FIBA Asia Cup stint in July.

Are u sure about this ? I think it's probably something like this (based on 2013 FIBA Asia Champs results and not 2012 FIBA Asia Cup)

        East: China + 2
        West: Iran + 1
        Gulf: 1
        Southeast: 2
        Central: 1
        South: 1

No Philippines in the 5th FIBA Asia Cup?

Since the SEABA qualifiers were Singapore and Indonesia, I guess Gilas won't be part of this Wuhan joust, contrary to other earlier reports. By the way, only three teams vied for the SEABA slots last May 21-23 qualifiers: Singapore, host Indonesia and Malaysia.

Iran and China in one group again. Interesting.

Phils and CT are also in the same group again

So the Philippines will also play in the 5th FIBA Asia Cup, after all. They were selected as a wildcard after the withdrawal from Gulf subzone, making SEABA representatives up to three.

My initial top three teams per group:
Group A - Iran, China, Japan
Group B - Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Jordan
(seeding based on their performance last 2013 Asian Championships in Manila)

                          how about yours, peeps?

Philippines is grouped with Jordan . . . hello again Coach Rajko Toroman!

A victory against either Jordan or Chinese-Taipei should guarantee passage to the next round. The Philippines will have an easy time against Singapore and Uzbekistan.
