Another highlight: Bongbong just said that there is already a good anti-political dynasty measure, which is the election, and there is no need for a anti-political dynasty law.

Here's the thing: Sec. 26 of Art. II of the Constitution says that "[t]he State shall guarantee equal access to opportunities for public service, and prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law." The anti-political dynasty law is a constitutional command. The fact that it's in the Constitution makes it a good reason for that law.

Problem is, for that constitutional provision to be effective, you need a law to prohibit political dynasties. Do we seriously expect that law to be enacted by our Congressmen and Senators, many of whom are from political dynasties?

Another thing is, Bongbong's legal team have 48 hours to make a position paper, as Commissioner Guanzon denied their request for a 15-day extension.
Commissioner Guanzon voted to disqualify Bongbong, as she thinks that non-filing of ITRs constitutes moral turpitude. If one other commissioner sides with her, Bongbong is disqualified. The resolution would be released Monday at the latest.

It's subject to appeal, though. First to the COMELEC en banc (every COMELEC Commissioner votes), then the Supreme Court.

But based on their interviews in any mainstream medias likes of Jessica Soho, DZRH, Boy Abunda, etc... then they are only capable of doing that.. Forget about the past and should focus on the latest problems that our country facing, especially the COVID-19 issue, the problems of unemployment, on foreign policy, etc... The reason why Japan is progressive because they are moving forward and they forget the past.. I know there are some people will say about Martial Law victims, negative issues on their past, etc... But my opinion, we should move on... Meanwhile, VP Leni and Manny are not capable to do presidency, They can't handle pressure and not having real and concrete plans if they win presidency and i think will be under by oligarch and powerful people here in the country...
I'm fine with Lacson and Isko, but Bongbong? I don't think so, given that he'll give up on the China arbitration ruling, doesn't have many concrete platforms. Plus, historical revisionism is a real concern. It's like Nazi Germany with the Holocaust, except that the Federal Republic of Germany is teaching the horrors of the Holocaust. We teach history so the negative shit doesn't happen again. Also, Bongbong's unlikely to give back the money they stole. Accountability, man.

Regarding oligarchs, Bongbong also has the Macapagal-Arroyo, Estrada, Villar, and Duterte camps backing him. Not to mention guys like Bong Revilla and the Remulla clan (who were Marcos cronies). So, oligarchy's also a worry with him too.

I'd be willing if he apologizes for his family to the victims and returns the stolen money. Otherwise, no thanks.

Man, this decision is taking too long. Hope it's released soon.

And Guanzon's vote won't be counted by COMELEC.

Are they that good? Or maybe the yellow governance has been that bad that a lot of people have now realized they've been taken for a ride, scammed by the so-called edsa people power? And maybe, the people have also grown tired of this dishonest traditional media that theyd rather get information from alternative sources?

Let me ask you, what's the academic prerequisite for an MBA?
It's not really actively revising the educational system, but it's more like, the Martial Law sections aren't really completely discussed. Atrocities and economic downturn wasn't tackled that much. So the pro-Marcos propagandists could more easily influence people. Lack of education. None of the following administrations even bothered to enforce it like Germany enforced anti-Nazism later on after WWII.

Don't get me wrong, I still think ousting Marcos was the right move, as we were already failing. Economy was in the red by 1985. But the leaders after People Power fucked up big time. Back to the same old oligarchic system, just caring about their own interests instead of their constituents. That's also a big factor on why people felt scammed.

                    • There are a lot of books on crony capitalism and how it ruined us. Im not a polsci but my take is Ferdi started a lot of industries with government loaned money with the help of his friends. Most of these industries lost money and folded up leaving us in debt. It is not as publicized but we should be talking more about GDP to debt ratio.

Secondly, Ferdi helped some people but he repressed a lot more. You would be imprisoned or even killed by just being in the same area as a CPP NPA guy without evidence of wrongdoing. You could be beaten near death by bad mouthing Aimee. Duterte is crazy to criminals but gives leeway to protesters even difference in ideologies whether leftists or muslims. You know Marcos killed those he trained in an aborted invasion of Borneo right?

I think there should be more academic discourse of Marcos crony capitalism beyond corruption. Of its net effect. Of humans rights violations beyond hysterics. I think we our education system failed in that.

That is why I hate this focus on corruption. I want more discussions on how we can develop our people, the country and the economy. I regretted voting for PNoy because infrastructure development flattened out during his time. He focused too much on making everything above board rather than stimulating the economy. As a result our economy stagnated in the latter half of his term. I think beyond corruption, economic deveopment is more important. I can take some corruption if I see that economic development is significantly more than it. At this point
I think its too hard to avoid some level of corruption to fund an election campaign.

The only red flag, quite frankly, is if the candidate truly turns out to be a net negative.

I disagree....Ferdi hurt some people (especially some of the rich like the Lopezes and Aquinos....but he helped a lot more....that is why even for the voters group of 50 yrs old and above,,,,BBM is still leading by a wide margin......that is also the reason why they cannot really put the Marcoses down permanently because of the majority of people that he helped.....Just basing on my own personal experience....i experienced Martial law....although Marcos did not helped us....i did not see the supposedly repression that Marcos did...what I saw was a good economy until the opposition started doing all these boycotts while pulled the country down.

A lot of people voted for BBM last time but more voted for Leni. There were many who voted for Duterte but not for him. Of course if you were not affected during Martial Law you had no problem. My father was imprisoned because he was at a party where a suspected CPP member attended. My grandmother looked for days for him. It was good that my grandfather knew somebody and they were tipped in his location or else I eould not be here as he would be among the many missing during ML. My grandma told me my father said nothing but he was red all over, probably from torture. He just gave her a paper quoting a bible verse, "God is my sheperd, I shall not want" They were devout protestants. Although my father was an activist never did he advocate for the overthrow of the government. Not once. It doesnt mean if you protest that you are the enemy of the state. Marcos didnt care. Again how about the Aimee protester who got beaten near to desth?

From all accounts you could not say anything bad about the government. There were agents everywhere. It got so bad that people bought the Jingle magazine to get some humor. All news were approved by the government.

It is okay if you agreed with the government. If you didnt it was not probably a good life then.

Even Duterte gives us the freedom to disagree with him to protest against him. Not Marcos.

What we want is a concrete solution how to solve atleast some of the problems... I want a leader who has strong personality and can handle the pressure well.. That's why Leni and Pacquiao are failed candidates in this batch because they can't handle this kind of job.. BBM is a good choice but still not 100% yet due to Lacson's potential also... If we based of qualities of being a leader, BBM and Lacson are neck by neck in terms of qualities.. Hoping that LP just endorse Lacson rather than Leni...
On paper Lacson is a decent candidate. To me he has been a decent senator. Personally though I cant shake the feeling that he has more skelletons in his closet than Digong. Bubby Dacer and Kuratong Baleleng come to mind. I read somewhere he was a young intelligence officer during ML. You know the ones who are master in interrogation and probably torture. But thats just me. The only person capable of defeating BBM is Sarah. With BBM carrying most of Digongs 16m and those who voted for him as VP, BBM doesnt have to do anything but shout unity or pagkakaisa instead of actually preparing for debates.

Actually we should be having the debates. With or without BBM we will see the platforms of our Presidentiables. Maybe if Leni cannot do well, maybe Isko or Lacson does well and take a bit more votes. The more active the others are in debates the more BBM will be forced to do it. The people have the right to see how BBM talks under pressure. Its laughable that he will be president without even joining a debate
