Yes, there is chamba in football but it is mostly pure skills, hardwork and talent...
If you get a goal in football, then it is by skills and hardwork. Ang laki ng goal mouth sa football ahh, if you hit the crossbar or upright when you shoot, its just a plain and simple miss. No more, no less...
I'll give you an example of Chamba...
2010 Suzuki Cup AzKals vs Singapore:
Duric's goal is chamba! Why?
The ball should have been out for a corner but it "luckily" stops near the goal line(Jonsson stop chasing it) and Shah recovered, tried to drill it towards the goal, Neil blocks it but "luckily or unluckily for us" it bounced to the far post and Duric's head was there. So a goal...
1-0 to Singapore
The AsKal equalizer is not chamba since it is the result of Singapore's defensive lapse and AzKals perseverance. C. Greatwitch goal is a sure shot. It comes from an assist, it did not bounce on any player and goes straight to goal.
Another example of chamba:
2010 Suzuki Cup AzKals vs Indonesia (SF Leg 1)
The Uruguayan's goal is chamba. Why?
Sure, it is the result of Etheridge flapping and Jonsson leaving his mark. But the ball hits the post and bounced inside the goal.
If the "pektos" of the is in the other direction, it would not have gone in...
If the "pektos" of the ball is a little bit slower, it would not have gone in...
If the ball bounced a little harder, it would not have gone in...
If the ball bounced on the post just a few angle off, it would not have gone in...
If an AzKal defender would have just the presence of mind to stand near the far post in that situation, it could have been cleared out.
But as luck would have it, all those variables conspired to make the ball goes inside the goal... So its pure plain chamba
2010 Suzuki Cup AzKals vs Indonesia (SF Leg 2)
The Uruguayan's first shot is deflected of a defender while Neil dives anticipating the ball's direction and luckily for them and again unluckily for us, the rebound lands again near the Uruguayan's foot and there goes the second shot. Even Iker Casillas can't stop it. But that shot is no longer chamba, it's pure skills on the Uruguayan. So to cap it, it was luck who made that second shot possible but without the skills he could not have placed it on the far corner of the goal...
Chamba vs Skills 101 lessons finished...
one doesn't have to look at the technical details. just observe their basics. it wasn't really obvious because our team didn't posses the ball that much, but there's a huge gap in quality... particularly between the Younghusband brothers and almost everyone else in the team. just look at how they receive a simple pass when a defender commits. the brothers do stuff like trapping the ball away with the first touch and doing step-over dribbles (Phil even did a Marseille-Turn against Indonesia) to create space. the other guys don't seem to know what to do with the ball when a defender comes rushing at them... they either blindly kick a long pass just to get rid of the ball or run away and dribble it out of bounds/into another defender. the Star Sports analysts said it best: "they work so hard, but they're just not good enough".
breaking down goals is an entirely different thing because so many factors are put into play... a nasty deflection, wicked pektus, goalie misjudgement (like the Uruguayan's goal in the 1st leg), moment of brilliance, even a stupid call or non-call by the ref or linesmen. a goal is a goal. those and other factors produce goals mapa-chamba man o hindi. the skills in football that don't require chamba like pin-point long passing, well-timed runs in the box that beat the offsides trap, getting decent contact with a ball on free headers, getting away from a defender (just to name a few)... our Azkals didn't show a whole lot of those skills. more often than not, it was our opponents in the Suzuki Cup who were making Etheridge and our defense work double time.

so naguguluhan nako!...
so is it offense vs defense or offense vs chamba.. and "how to make chamba" should what we are praktising instead of skills and ball-movement coordination..
as some of the forumers saying here!..
will they still continue to praktis to replace chamba with accuracy? or should we still rely to chamba as per them?
which is which???
again, its unfair to AZKALS that the Suzuki cup is just a CHAMBA tourney for us!.

so again are you insisting and imposing (similar to your previous posts) that the suzuki cup is a mere fluke or chamba for AZKALS? yes or no? tenks!

But as for their performance in the 2010 Suzuki Cup, i would not count it as "chamba" but rather hard work. Hard work sometimes would overcome pure talent and skills and that's one of the major beauty in football. No matter how good is the team, there is still a chance for an upset. Winning against Vietnam in football is possible but Vietnam winning against the Smart-Gilas team is unthinkable. It works against Singapore and Vietnam but it did not work against Indonesia. But it nearly did except for that odd breaks in the game and the luck of the Uruguayan
Edit:
BTW, a through balls and timed runs (Indonesia did it to us several times) could not be done through sheer talents and skills, it needs innate understanding between players. That is why Cesc Fabregas was used sparingly by Spain in their run for WC 2010 because del Bosque did not want to break-up the interplay between the Barcelona midfielders even though Fabregas has definitely better talent and skills compared to Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets.Last edited by vimjonk; 02-15-2011, 09:15 AM.

Though the Azkals are not playing NTs from the upper levels we have to still be happy that the NT are racking up some wins.
sir, is this the suzuki cup?
if it is then, well this is a "CHAMBA win" as the later posters wants us to employ. otherwise pls disregard my post! sorry for inconvinience!

C'mon guys lets stop this chamba this chamba that talk. Right now kiko, the other forumers are having a hard time explaining things to newbies. Its like teaching algebra to a kid who is just starting to add and subtract. Lets just make kiko watch more football(esp european games) and let him learn the game first before arguing about technical stuff. And we cant have same opinions. Peace mga bra!

Velarde comes to Azkals' rescue
By FRANCIS SANTIAGO
February 15, 2011, 6:06pm
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said Tuesday that El Shaddai leader Bro. Mike Velarde has already agreed in principle to donate the 4.5 hectares of prime land in Parañaque City for the purpose of constructing a new football pitch under a FIFA grant.
“He (Velarde) has agreed in principle,” said Araneta, adding that the charismatic leader only wants to revise some finer details in Memorandum of Agreement.
Araneta said the MOA, crafted by the Fifa officials two weeks ago, has been delivered back to Azkals’ team manager Dan Palami on Monday for revision.
The construction of the pitch will be made possible through Goal Project 2 of the FIFA, which will give the Philippines a $500,000 grant (about P21.7 million).
Under the contract, Velarde will allow the PFF to use a parcel of land – located within one of the subdivisions developed by Velarde’s company, Anvel – for free for at least 25 years.
Araneta said the MOA is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, and it will be submitted to the FIFA for the Feb. 28 meeting on Goal Project proposals.
“It will only take six months to finish the construction of the field,” said Araneta, noting that it will be FIFA which will decide on the design of the pitch.
The football pitch, for some period of time, will exclusively be used by the Azkals, who are preparing for their rematch with Mongolia for the AFC Challenge Cup qualifying match in the cold Ulan Bator on March 15.
The Philippines is just one of the bevy of countries seeking FIFA’s help for the construction of a football field.
Mongolia, through Goal Projects I and II, has already built an artificial pitch and an academic complex in Ulan Bator. Mongolia President Tsakhia Elbegdorj even visited FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on Jan. 26 to thank FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
Should the construction of artificial pitch pushes through, it will help sustain the gains achieved by the Azkals, German coach Michael Weiss said recently.
“Apart from the Azkals, we have to have many pitches in the country because many young Filipinos want to play football,” Weiss said. “And we have to give them the opportunity to do it,” Weiss, 43, said. “In Manila, I think we only have one or two artificial pitches and I think it’s not enough for a city that has 10 million people.”Follow my blogs and tweets. http://dxjayrocksnotes.blogspot.com/ and https://twitter.com/dxjayrock
