unforgivable 2-1 loss to Timor Leste in the SEA Games, a side we have routed the last 4 times

not really the East Timor players(the brazilians and portuguese blood) physique is much more superior than the azkals which is quite surprising given that we are the more superior country physique wise because of our mixed ancestry..

although majority of them can be said offensive players as the lack of defensive men for the timorese has been exposed in the yesterday match where we almost have all the possesions in the last 20 minutes or so

It would have been forgivable if we were totally outclassed by their football, but the level of football Timor Leste played was nothing extraordinary. We lost more because of our own doing. The boys don't seem to be playing within an established system. It's quite surprising to find Tristaens at the right flank numerous times, and on defense, there seems to be no inspired defending, no urgency, always a few seconds late than the opposing team. I understood Muller's frustration with his defensive line teammates who seems more concerned with trying to officiate the game instead of playing it(You don't look at the referee and signal offside, you actually have to continue defending until the refs call offside). Just terrible focus.

I'm starting to miss Simon McMenemy now.

Philippine U-23 NT in SEA Games are more 17 to 19 years old

what is the point? Manny Ott, Jason de Jong and a few others were already capped by the seniors team, meaning they were supposed to already be good enough for the seniors team but in the SEA Games, we're looking at a team who seems lost in the wild.

i didn't see the Timor Leste match, but i'm guessing the same damn things that killed our U23 Azkals against Vietnam happened again. how do they even communicate on the pitch when they got players speaking Deutsch, Spanish, Italian, French, Tagalog, and Bisaya as their first languages? McMenemy's English lower-league system of getting a lot of players behind the ball and waiting for a counter would have been a better fit for these boys. nevertheless, Weiss is not to blame for this team's problems on defense... it's the players.

The way I see it, mukhang walang gana maglaro..The sense of urgency came too late(mga last 20 minutes na) in desperation to score an equalizer which never came. Had they played with such urgency in the first 70 minutes of the match, the outcome would have been different

I dont think so...The SEAG team is performing way below the level they are capable of playing..proof of that is the last 20 minutes in the Timor Leste game, but the sense of urgency came to late..

but look at our youth teams they should perform in the top 6 in asia to show evidence that we have a better program than this guys..

again we have more valid reason why we lose but a lot of talk about when we win because

what program? Dependence on foreign-based players? Timor Leste did the same and we had a dose of our own medicine. What we are lacking is a good grassroots development program. I understand CFA president Montayre did a presentation, I dunno what happened now

Timor leste using many naturalized player btw( mostly from Portugal ), I saw many mulatos in their team some even whites

exactly what can we expect if we do no t excel in youth programs logic wise where do we get our good players not all the time we cannot rely on foreign recruits just like in basketball just like in any sports

no pun intended, but that epic fightback by the U23 Azkals in the 90th until stoppage time winning 3-2 despite being a man down... CHAMBA! Laos was clearly the better team. our boys still defended poorly and had no purpose in the midfield... but they still won. that's football!

chamba? here we go again...have you seen the goal made by beloya..that was skill..i've only seen last 15 minutes of the game but during that time (2-1 scoreline), the azkals were dominating the Laos..anyway, without pun intended (lol), you should watch more games of football to differentiate chamba from skills and effort..but you're are correct that the defense and midfields are very weak..but that's football..they are not spain by the way..again, no pun intended..

The disappointment stems from the fact that we all know the u23 Azkals are capable of playing at a higher level..take it from Weiss himself who rued that many of the Fil-fors "behaved like stars" in the match versus Timor Leste. While the late goals scored may not actually be chamba, conceding 2 goals to Laos and almost losing the game is testament to how poor our defensive line is.
