This team will be coached by Miguel Salvitelli (Argentinean) and Ecuadorian Jorge Dávila, who have been putting this team into double practices since March. They have been warming up against senior teams, getting wins over Azuay and Guayas.
Venezuela
guards José G.Silvera, Abrouse Acosta and Alexánder Morillo; forwards Anthony J. Pérez, Drexler Mejías, Edyn Calatayud, Erick Bermúdez and Alfredo Flores; the centers are, Junios J. Martínez, Leonardo M. Betancourt, Israel Blanco, José Cubiano and Angel Urbina.
During the week they played against the reserves of Cocodrilos de Caracas where they lost 89-64 (monday), 64-52 (tuesday) and 62-48 (wednesday). That experience helped make some adjustments for the tournament.
Venezuela has three players from last year team U-15 (Blanco, Calatayud, Anthony Perez)
Have you got some prepare games, some previews??? And what about Bolivia?
I looked for some results of these players from lower cathegories on fibaamericas.com, but I found nothing except last year U-15, where played three Venezuelans, one Argentinian player (Garino) and one player of Uruguay (Porodi)..
Which would you say are the main Argentina men Jokinen?
Probably the most interesting player is center Matias Bortolin, he just turned 16 and is around 2.05 mts. He already was named MVP of the U16 SouthAmerican Championship last year at Venezuela. Also i like (SF) Patricio Garino, (G) Bruno Colli and (PF) Joel Comba, who reminds me of a young Luis Scola (offcourse saving the distances)
I was able to watch lastnight game agaisnt Uruguay, Giaveno played at a different level is a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrryyyyyyyy speedy litle guard very agresive, he stole 9 balls and dished 5 ast, there where two different half, in the first half good defense for Uruguay Argentina played inside (1/8 3 PT) and Bortolin (C) and Comba (PF) scored 9 apiece as they conbined for 18 pts of the 26 (Argentina lost the first half 30 - 26)
In the second Uruguay went to a Zone defense Controled Comba and Bortolin but suffered 5/6 from 3PT in the thid quarter Argentina defense improved a lot and Argentina led by as many as 18 in then early 4th quarter.
PS: Fiba stats are a joke!, Giaveno was given only 3 stls and 3 ast, and Bortolin grabed 4 rbs in the first quarter and they did not counted any other rebound in the rest of the game even when he grabed 3 offensive rebounds in the same play!!!
Jajaja rojadirecta, I think they broadcast only Uruguay so maybe if Argentina and Uruguay reaches the final we would be able to see that game next sunday.
Impressive win for Uruguay!
Were they expected to make it this far or was everyone expecting a Brazil-Argentina finals matchup?
Everyone always assumes an Argentina-Brazil final match will happen, but youth tournaments have seen many silver medals by Uruguayans during the last few years. I think Venezuela also reached a final game lately.
