Listen lluudhdgs (Or whatever that nicknames means) , Mexico made it a couple of times to the TOA (I hope you even know what that is) and did okay there.

Also, Mexico is on of the better basketball countries in the Americas and has some well organised leagues while the DR got their things together the first time after a long history of failures so dont tell me how "good" Mexico is or not, especially if other members are trying to explain to you how that FIBA thing works with Charlie.

    • From what I read about the rule, it's on FIBA's Secretary General to make a decision about it.

From my point of view, Dominicans should not push for Charlie. It can backfire. If they get Charlie, USA Basketball could ask for Horford and USA Basketball got the influence to make it happen.

        DON"T FREAKING MAKE ME LAUGH

DO U KNOW WHO WON THE 2004 CENTROBASKET, I bet u do but won't tell it LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

AND BY THE WAY, if MEXICO is more superior than Dominicana as you say, than can you explain me why Dominicana with a very weak team with bunch of absencese and without it's best player won the game against Mexico wit all their best players which was suppose to bring a dram team (and the only big ascendancy was Najera)

but All I'm saying is that The dominican team had more absencese than any other team.
PPL(not dominicans or anyone who knows the dominican talent )thought that that was a Dominican dream team just because they had 2 NBA ,and actually u " K2 " said before a couple of times "K2" . But in fact Most of the players who were first thought were going to represent the dominican Rep. actually decided not to for a variaty of reasons, That factor forced the dominican federation to brought a very young team with players with very little expirience in International tournaments

The greer brothers opted not to participate, as well as, Luis Flores, Luis felipe Lopez, marlon Martinez, amauri fillion, Edgar Sosa, Ronald Ramon, Ivan almonte, Sammy mejia, Dominic mejia y Josh Asslin, along may others that didn't go.So that with the only fact of wing the bronze medal and humiliating the mexican in the 0.7 sec of the game is enough credential to state that the dominicans are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bettre than Mexico who lost with most of their talented playAZ.

WELL not the team that was in the centrobasket but one with all it's figures, and how come you can leave VENEZUELA out of the list. I do Understand that u think mexico should be on the top 10 even thugh I desagree wit u but

1th - VIgin Island oVeR PANAmA. Are u kiddin' me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2th - if u want mexico there I think it shouldn't be above Panama either lol (whazzup with you pickin on Panama, believe me there better than what the showed in Centrobasket, remember who was the last champ before Puerto rico I meant)

                3th - where's venezuela???????????

4th - -Brazil is way better than puerto rico: nene, Alex, barbosa,Rafael Araujo, Marcus Vinicius, Tiago Splitter. no way puerto rican could possible win match against this guys. Im' not saying that u guys dont have good player or such a thing but better than thoes, maybe just Baerga and arroyo(not suer about ayuso cuz I haven't seen him played in a while)

5th - U really think canada without it's Nba caliber players is better than The dominicans, yeah right. With nash, dalembert, mendez,English and majlore together is a different story but that line up is never goona happen, cuz of problems beyond our knowledges (Federation--Coach'problems). So without these guys playing together I don't SEE CANADA in the top 5.

by the way waht would be you top 15 of the Americas "-K2-"
                MIne'd look like this:
                1. Argentina
                2. USA (I know it's crazy to say that USA is behind ARG but they haven't show to much of what the are really able to do for a while, well expcetd for the OLIYMPICS of course)
                3. Brazil
                4. Puerto Rico
                5. Canada
6 Uruguay (I don't this the'r better than RD but, in this case happens the same that with the US )
                7. Dominican Republic
                8. Panama
                9. Virgin Islands

The alst couple ofr games we have beaten brazil 2 out of the last 4 times. The two loses were in the panamerican tournament with our B team. In the TOA we beat them twice once by more than 22 pts. I'm not gonna count that we made it to the last round of the olympic qual two months ago, and they did not beacause they did not have nene or barbosa (but i will still mention it cause we did not have Reyes or Apodaca for example[B]). They are not better than us at all!!!

                  Evidence:
                  1. BOX SCORE bronze medal game TOA 2007 (check brazilian roster)

                  2. BOX SCORE quarter final TOA 2007 (again please check the roster)

U GoT ME WRONG I DIDN'T SAY THAT U COULD NOT BEAT bRAZIL. what I said was that there was no way that Puerto rico could possible beat them with all the players that i mentioned before playing together , such as: nene, Alex, barbosa,Rafael Araujo, Marcus Vinicius, Tiago Splitter

Well i guess we will not settle on this one. Agree to disagree. Arujo was banned for steroid use. The Brazilian have little faith on Vinicius who only gets included in B squads such as panamerican game 2007.

                            4. Mexico

                            8. Guatemala

                            2006 (In Panama):
                            1. Panama
                            2. Virgin Islands
                            3. Puerto Rico

                            8. Costa Rica

                            2008(In Mexico):
                            1. Puerto Rico
                            2. Virgin Islands
                            3. Dominican Republic

                            8. Costa Rica

Its interesting, that the DR finished better in Centrobasket play (They won it at home while Mexico could not use it homecourt-advantage) than in TOA play.
I would not rank DR higher than Mexico in national team-terms if you are looking at the results.
DR did not even qualify in 06 ,which now happened to Mexico.
The Virgin Island may have the edge over Mexico and Dom.Rep. while Puerto Rico should be better ranked than Brazil IMO.

Regarding the the professional leagues in the respective countries and the overall situation regarding professional conditions, I would rank Mexico over DR and VI while PR has its BSN which is one of the major league in Latin America and should be ranked even over the LNBP (Mexico's Pro League).

Regarding Haiti: I hope they are not going to get struck by the upcoming hurricanes, the country has other problems then basketball right now I guess.
Dalemebert and Valmera are the only pro players right now and there has not been a national-team that competed in any competition for years.

                            I from Wisconsin!

But thank u for the Hurricane thing. It wasn't really a hurricane though. It was just a strom without much damage

and u forgot the panm 2003 dominicans won the silver medal and mexico did't even make the second round, but I wasn't talking about how those two countries has done in past enevts I meant, their talented material right now. and dominicana and VI has by far more talent.

after reading this post i took the liberty of making a point system for the CentroBasket/TOA/South American Championship.

For the CentroBasket and SA Champ, the scoring was like this...
                                2006.
                                1.Brazil (6)
                                2. Uruguay (5)
                                3. Argentina (4)
                                4.Venezuela (3)
                                5.Colombia (2)
                                6. Chile (1)

top team gets awarded 6 points (a point for every participating team, in CentroBasket case, it would be 8 points) 2nd place 5 (or 7) etc...

For the ToA, the champ gets 20, second place gets 18, and it continues until the 10 place finish gets 2 points...

                                1. Argentina (75)
                                2. Puerto Rico (69)
                                3. Brazil (52)
                                4. Venezuela (48)
                                5. Dominican Republic (41)
                                6. Mexico (40)
                                7. Uruguay (37)
                                8. Panama (33)
                                9. Virgin Islands (23)
                                10. Cuba (12)
                                11. Chile (6)
                                12. Colombia/Costa Ri ca/Guatemala/Bahamas (4)
                                13. Antigua/Barbados (3)
                                14. El Salvador/Paraguay/Jamaica (2)
