I'm really looking forward to this tournament, i believe this is the best generation of Argentinian players in the recent years, this is Argentina roster:
Guards:
Juan Manuel Fernández (1.94 mts, 9 de julio, Argentina - going to Temple Univ.)
Cristian Cortes (1.85 mts Obras Sanitarias, Argentina)
Nicolás Laprovitola (1.93 mts Lanus, Argentina)
Maximiliano MartÃn (1.98 mts Bahiense del norte, Argentina)
MatÃas Nocedal (1.94 mts Tau Ceramica, Spain)
Can you tell me the top players who didn't try out?
Greg Monroe, Jrue Holliday, Derrick Favors, Renardo Sidney, Xavier Henry, Al-Farouq Aminu, Darius Miller...from the DC area I know Isaiah Armwood and Terell Vinson declined invitations. Of the 25 that initially were supposed to go, only 18 eventually showed up.
Here's the final roster. Surprised to see Lance Stephenson get cut:
Anyway, the only time the US actually lost in this tournament, we had one of our strongest squads (Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Deron Williams in the starting lineup), so we should be okay.

At first, I thought in your original post, the US NT was having a hard time in getting our top players to go for the tryouts. 18 out of 25 in not bad at all. We may have our personal preference on who should be on th NT but the final selection process will always be by the coach. For whatever reasons he may have on who will be on the team, that's on him. I think we have a great team here!

Sorry, I didn't make that clear--The 25 was just the guys that originally accepted the invitation before changing their minds, it doesn't include ones that didn't accept in the first place.

Why is USA Basketball saying that the NT is full of talent??
Leon Cooper
Lynden Davis
Kyle Hepburn
Ollen Smith
Edrico McGregor
Jermaine Storr
David Nesbitt
Shavaro Bowleg
Dario Cox
Donathan Moss
Manjunjuro Lundy
Kristan Rolle
Moss averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds a game at the Centrobasket tournament last year, shooting an impressive 69 free throws in 5 games. Looking at their stats from that tournament, they shot extremely poorly, but got to the line a lot and got tons of rebounds. In their loss to Mexico, they shot 18-96 from the field(!) but got 33 offensive rebounds(!!)
They are missing guard Raymond Higgs, who scored 14 a game at Centrobasket--he is at the World Junior Athletics championship in Poland, where he has qualified for the final in the high jump.
USA Basketball website has coverage of the team's trip to Argentina:
USA beats Venezuels 82-73 after leading by double figures for most of the second half. Solid result as Venezuela is one of the top teams in this tournament. Only downside was 1-16 from three-point range
Puerto Rico rolling the Bahamas 49-24 at halftime.
