I´m excited about this new intercontinental tournament. Of course I will be supporting the Uruguayan basketball club "Defensor Sporting Club".

So who are the top 4 "hot favourites"?

I'd say the South candidates are Libertad, Boca and Minas. Abouth the North... Puerto Rican teams seem to have better rosters, but Mexican teams (especially Xalapa) are in midseason form, so they coud have the advantage.

PS: K2, where did you find that Boca team badge? I've never seen it before.

the BSN wont allow Carlos Escalera (Miami Tropics) Alvin Cruz (Miami Tropics) Alejandro "Bimbo" Carmona (Metros de Santiago) Hector Valenzuela (Metros de Santiago) and Rafael "Chamo" Perez (PBL All Star or the Chicago Aztecs or however they are named) to play at the Liga de las Americas

Allowed to play will be Franklyn Western (Metros de Santiago) and Angel Sanchez (Metros de Santiago)

Carlos Escalera, "Bimbo" Carmona and Hector Valenzuela are or have been on the NT at some point of their career, while Alvin Cruz is according to the so called experts, one of the most promising players of our league (IMO he is just an overrated punk). "Chamo" Perez is an All-Star player on the BSN. He is venezuelan.

"Felo" Rivera, president of the BSN said that they wont allow them to play because he has to protect the puertorrican inversion. He said that there is a risk of an injury and that Puerto Rico already has 2 representative, and allowing those players to play on the tournament would turn the Liga into another BSN.

The BSN allowed Western and Sanchez to play because they are dominicans and the owners aproved them to play.

Mexicali and the PBL team will arrive tomorrow to Puerto Rico.
The Metros are having problems with their visa and will travel with only 7 players. They are looking to sign some unsigned BSN free agents, since they have to present a 10-man roster to be able to play.

Error 404. Lo sentimos, pero la página que busca no se encuentra, algo pudo haber pasado con la dirección o simplemente no existe. Intente de nuevo.

Just a question: are the banned players under contract by BSN teams for next season? Because if not, this banning makes no sense. And using the Puerto Rican clubs as an excuse is just pathetic, i'm sure that BSN wouldn't and couldn't complain if there were PR players in Brazilian or Argentinean clubs.

This is really crazy, as well. They can't find three free agents in all of the Dominican Republic?

yes, they are under contract. Alvin Cruz just signed with Carolina a few weeks ago. I can understand all the banning except the one to Carlos Escalera. He has been playing with the Tropics since last year, so he is already a part of their program.

I guess the dominicans wants to sign guys from the BSN because they want to make sure they wont have the same visa problems the dominicans always have.

I will update the badge later tonight. Thanks for the PM

The BSN approved Rafael "Chamo" Perez to play for the PBL All Star.
They are approved the participation Joel Curbelo and Angel Paniagua with the Metros de Santiago.

Joel Curbelo played with the Arecibo Capitanes that qualified to this tournament. He was not resigned.

This is Curbelo being choked by Jack Nies

Thanks for all the updates, everybody.

The Liga de las Americas is very exciting. I would love for this to become an annual competition! (I hate to sound like a wet blanket, but these types of things tend to fall apart). There is nothing better than international club tournaments!!

Naturally, my Ohio Fox Sports station is too stupid to realize that they should broadcast these games, so I'm going to miss them.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas
