Stream came back for the second half, but not much to say...US won 94-48. Kind of an offensive crisis though as they scored less than 100 points for the third time in the tournament . Must have set a shot-blocking record.

Was something like 15 blocks (though not a record), 5 by T. Bryant alone. It was also a very good team effort, everyone playing scored.
In the end, US team finished the tournament with the biggest overall margin in the Fiba Americas U16 history (+53).
      Malik Newman named MVP.

      P.S. unfortunately, very bad v-streaming, lost a lot !

It seems to me that this was the best USA U16 I have ever seen. Better than the 2009 and 2011.

What about Argentina, as compared to previous tournaments ?

Many experts say that these classes which participated here (Class of 2015 and 2016) are very promising, particularly the 2016 group. Don Showalter already stated that this group was perhaps the best he has seen since he started coaching the U16 teams.

Unfortunately Harry Giles, the 2016 class top player, was injured in the 2nd game. He scored a double-double in the easy win over Mex in just 17' action.

I have seen the three U16 FIBA Américas. And this year USA impresed me the most. They look older players, like a NCAA team against children. I`m sure they would have crushed Canada, as easily as any other team, if they had played agaist USA.

This team played a better basketball in terms of team play and ball movement. They also played good defense. But only our perimetral players have potential. We´ll need size to compete at the World Championship. Hopefuly will have Onetto (205m recovered from his injury) and we will need Galardo (2.05) or Fernánez Crisol (2.04) to step up. This players have height, but still have kid bodies, they need to get stronger and wider.

I believe I saw a tweet that USA and Canada played a warm-up game prior to the U16 tournament and that USA won by a decisive margin (I can't remember how much exactly)

There was people saying that the game was close (and even Canada won one quarter) and other saying USA won by a large margin. I don't know. But this USA executed well, wasn't all one vs one. When they are pressuring and trapping, they are all overyou, you don't have a inch to make your play. It feels unfair lol.

The tweets I saw had the US beating Canada 83-49 in the pre-tournament scrimmage, with Canada winning the last quarter 19-18.

That sound right to me. Canada has good prospects obviously. They are long and athletic too. But they did not executed as good. They got confused by the extra pass against Argentina. And offensively limited to shot from long distance. Not much team play. I think they are far behind USA.

Another nice thing to say about the USA team is that they were not arrogant at all. Actually both games against Argentina were physical, but when a argentinian fell to the floor, a US player reached to lift him up (in both games), when Giles got injured, it was a argentinian player who helped him (along with someone from the staff of USA) to get out of the court. And after the tournament was over, the players exchanged clothes and stuff like that.

Yeah, I noticed the good sportsmanship too. Some of the older guys could learn from our young players.

Unfortunately the injury suffered in the 2nd game by Harry Giles (USA) revealed to be much more serious than expected.

The nation's top rising soph, Giles could miss the entire season.

Harry Giles, the nation's top-ranked rising sophomore, suffered a serious knee injury last week in Uruguay while playing for USA Basketball’s U16 squad.

Edit: hoping to have him back soon this way

That's really, really unfortunate. A lot of scouting experts consider him to be the best American high school basketball prospect in the nation.
