I wouldn't be so sure, the last time a Cuban team stayed in Argentina it lost a few players.

Well if the do choose not to, adn USA also does not go, that opens up 2 spots...

And there should be a "mini" round robin, before the FIBA Americas with the 5th and 6th teams from this years centrobasket and South American... Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay and Colombia... with the top 2 advancing...

Speaking of the FIBA Americas expansion....

Nonetheless I think they should do it, becuase this region has the potential to be very competitive... (see 2010 Centrobasket where T&T upset PR, Jamaica without Roy Hibbert almost defeated Panama for a place in the semis, and the Dominican Republic which with a complete roster of its best player can compete pretty well with most european teams)

But right now, after USA, Argentina, Brazil and Puerto Rico, the Americas region does not have a world caliber team...

And as stated before... I think that an expansion will help with the development of basketball in the area...

That would be a very big first step towards a better development, at least for helping top players from third-level nations get some exposure and find their way.
