SEN – ANC for U 18 men: The 12 players of Senegal known
The Senegalese coach who carried out about three weeks of preparation with his team, lined up a group led by the MVP of the last basketball without borders (BWB) held last month in South Africa, the young playmaker, Thierno Ibrahima Niang.
In the group, we notice the come back of Pape Samba Ndao, from Seed Academy, who is studying in USA.
Added to the two players, the list contains the players who took part to the qualifiers and also registered the arrival of Mansour Kasse, a young player based in Spain and elected best player of his category in the Canaries Island team.
The Senegal will play in the Group A alongside the Mali, Egypt, Central Africa, Mozambique and Morocco.
The 12 selected players : Thierno Ibrahima Niang ; Louis Adams ; Mbaye Thiam ; Aboubacar Cassé ; Habib Ndoye ; Pape Samba Ndao ; Pape Abdoulaye Mbaye ; Sellé Diagne Hanne ; Cheikh Tidiane Sané ; Daniel Gomis ; Arfang Diouf ; Mansour Kassé
Egypt objected considering some overraged players in the Nigerian team.
So what did they do? Send a letter to FIBA to complain?
They definitely can't withdraw or threaten to withdraw from the tournament since they are the ones organizing it
I don't know much about the level of the U18 teams in Africa, but I believe that the following teams should be competing for the title:
Group 1:
Egypt, Senegal, and to a lesser extent Mali and Morrocco
Group 2:
Nigeria, Angola, and to a lesser extent Cote D'Ivoire and Algeria
I'm happy with my predictions so far (The 8 teams that I mentioned all made it to the quarterfinals, and the 4 teams that I said have a better chance all made it to the semis).
Now comes the hard part.
All 4 teams have played quite well but I still think that Egypt and Nigeria are the favorites for the title (I hope that Egypt is able to win on their turf in front of all their fans)
