I'd love to see Cape Verde make the qualifying tournament too...several of their players have ties to the Boston area. I wonder if they could convince Ryan Gomes to play for them if they make it that far.
Playing like Angolans they beat the Giant Nigeria 62-53
Excellent win for Cape Verde. All in all they do have a strong team with Rodrigo Mascarenhas (bulky all-around player and a superb rebounder), Marques Houtman, Aldevino Lima (a good prospect), Mário Jorge and others.
Congrats to Cape Verde

As a Portuguese fan, you must have been glad with this
Cameroon vs Angola Finals African Champ
Egypt vs Cap verde 3/4
Semi finals games:
Cameroon vs Egypt 58-52
Angola vs Cap Verde 93-60.
My personnel own :
I think this year African champ sux.Only Angola play well, Egypt,Nigeria,Senegal aren't in shape this year,nd the absence of Algerie made this champ very low in performance.

wow.
Congrats to Cape Verde, not bad at all for a country with only half a million of population.
As far as I recal from the last world championship Nigeria could use a guard or two. Had the pleasure of watching Awojobi, Anagonye and Oyedeji in my town, so I know what they're capable of.

That's funny shit.I cant believe there are sports fans thinking like it.It's like Federer losing to random Japanese player in round 1 of French Open but tournament director stepping in and saying "hey it was a fluke win who wants to watch a random Japanese guy in next round,Federer qualifies"
Fantastic participation for Cape Verde, certainly the surprise of the championship. Cape Verdian basketball is stronger than it seems, that's quite visible with the players who play in Portugal.

im watching this year,s african championship and the level sux ...lebanon should be aware of this and should participate to get in the top 3 in next year,s olympics qualifying tournament cuz i think they are better than south korea, cape verde, cameroon, panama, new zealand and venezuala who we beat last year..........so after watching this championship im really optimistic of lebanon,s chances...and i dt think our chances are as low as i thought.....i think we have around 30 to 40% chance of making it....
Wow, that's an amazing way to finish a touney! Being the unknown team that gets a big prize defeating more traditional squads and clinhing with a 3 point shot at the end... It's a movie waiting to happen
PS: Houtman leaving for Europe? That can only be good.
Yea,Cap Verde surprised Nigeria in the eight Finals and yesteday egypt.
They play well according for the weak level this year in Afrobasket.
Congrats For Cap Verde and Cameroon.
