Yao Ming is pretty big, the biggest center in the NBA right now, but what is bigger than his body is his heart itself.
As an American I truly envy China on the fact that we Yanks don't have Yao Ming.
Latest news about the earthquake in China is that Yao Ming donated 2,000,000 USD+ BESIDES THE 250,000~usd he donated earlier. Critics were bashing him for not giving enough, myself guilty of this also. However what Yao just did is beyond the call of what most people would do, and that is he sgtarted the Yao Ming Foundation, to try and build schools in the earth quake stricken area and to put it at a much higher standard.
I just got the news from esp.com

Yao to donate money, create foundation to aid earthquake victims
Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Rockets center Yao Ming said he will donate $2 million and create a foundation to rebuild Chinese schools devastated by last month's earthquake in his home country.
Yao announced Tuesday the creation of the Yao Ming Foundation, which will begin with his donation.
Yao said the foundation will help raise funds to build earthquake-resistant schools in China. But some of the money from U.S. charities would also go to school-building efforts in the United States. "As everyone knows about the recent tragedy in China, the earthquake tragedy was the worst in history," Yao said. "For this reason, I am working to give back funds." He said rebuilding will take many years and he plans to make further donations and raise public awareness about the earthquake victims.Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press

“It is very hard to put into words how difficult it is to see this
kind of destruction,” said Yao. “My thoughts and actions are
now focused on helping to rebuild the schools that were
destroyed in this tragedy and I hope that others around the
world will join in our efforts.”
All donations from the public will be directed to rebuilding
efforts in China, with an emphasis on rebuilding earthquake-
resistant schools, unless the donor requests otherwise.
We welcome and appreciate donations of any size.
More than 8,000 schoolrooms and 185 schools were destroyed

Continue to raise awareness about the rebuilding efforts
and needs for next few years
