Slovenian U18 national team beated Bosna&Herzegovina 73-70 on a preparation tournament for european championship that will took place in Greece from 18th-17th July.

scorers: Dragič 2, Tomič 11, Mlakar 14, D. Lorbek 17, Bilič 8, Čigoja 21.

today they're playing with Finland, tommorow with Croatia.

Either Krušič, Grušovnik and Vidmar didn't score at this game, were given some rest or they are not participating at all- which would imo be a big handicap....
media coverage is really poor, so I'd be glad If anyone manages to get our roster or anything.

Slovenia U18 seems really promising with players like Cigoja and Klemen Lorbek. U20 team can't play without any decent scorers like Cebular/Vrecko/Dragic.

U20: this year we are really thin at PG position compared to last year's Mocnik&Dragic duo. Hohler in Olimpija, you must be kidding me. And Cresnar, he's a joke. A "big" joke. I can't believe some people compared him to "The waiter".

U18: K. Lorbek can play with kids, but I don't think he can transfer his game to levels that matter. I saw him play numerous times in Goodyear League and I just can't see him succeed. Maybe it's just me. Nice to see Tomic doing well.

Since it's quite boring time regarding basketball news in Slovenia, can someone describe some of these young players in U-18 and U-20 NT? I'm especially interested in Tomic, K. Lorbek, Cigoja and Krusic. What are their basketball characteristics, strengths and weaknesses? Do they have potential to develope in folowing years like Dragic did and become a star?

I know some rumours about Tomic and Krusic...Tomic was one of great prospects few years back but as I heard there was some "back-stabbing" in his career development...some think he is too slow...which I found hard to believe as his stats in steals is very good - normally a good indication of players feet and hand quickness...his performances do fluctuate too much that you could count on him as a certain candidate for a bright future...still he is very young for a PG and such performances are in some degree expected...IMO he is a player with very nice potential...but not a reliable bet for the future...would like to see him succeed though.

As I know Krusic started playing basketball very late...he was first playing handball or voleyball???...he has good body for his age and nice post moves...looking at his quick development in past year he is a great prospect...with Novakovic at Kemoplast he will get huge minutes next year and IMO he will explode...probably we will see already 15pt 9rb next year in SKL from him...will be interesting material for Olimpija already after next season...his body strenght is already at better level than Vidmar's from Slovan...because of this and beacuse of his late start in sport of basketball I count him as huge prospect for the future.

I got a feeling that Vidmar will explode next year in Slovan  I hope Pipan will give him enough playing time. That shouldn't be problem since Zupan is gone and Pasalic will likely go too.

Nice win for our U20 team against Hungary, I didn't expect it to be that easy to be honest...

I heard from some ex-Slovan players that Preldžič is a nice talent, but I never imagined he would be able to put up such numbers against a year older competition...

next year with 88' class stepping in, this team might actually have some chances for a medal if everyone would accept an invitation to NT, this team consists mostly from generation 87'...

Slovenia is in the semifinals of U20 EC. ;)

Did anyone ask yourself how would this team look like if players like Goran Dragic, Sandi Cebular and Zan Vrecko would be playing? :D

Anyway... they surprised me! Keep up the good work guys! :)

Wow Emir Preldzic is rockin' on this U20 EC. Can someone describe him as a player? I know he plays for Slovan and he will probably get important role next year. Is his play similar to Nachbar's? I'm asking beacuse on pictures his constitution looks similar to Nachbar's (long, thin and athletic SF).

I've only heard rumours about Preldžič, but haven't seen him play...

great job by our U20 NT, as Elaj said I didn't expect anything from them with 87 class having 90% of responsibility and with players such as Dragič, Čebular and Vrečko missing- this handicap makes the result even sweeter...

Here you have a nice highlight of U20 game Slovenia:France. There are some very nice plays from both teams  Preldzic looks like a next Nachbar.
