The Eurovision song contest will take place in Belgrade on May 20-24th.

Yesterday Lithuania have picked their singer for this event. Our national contest was won by previously unknown (at least to me) singer Jeronimas Milius with a song "Nomads in the night". Here's his performance:

We have this final crap selection today... we have really, really horrible candidats.

As for Lithuanian song... no offense, it sucks really hard, almost as Slovenian ones.:D

Why does every fucking Eurovision song has to be about love, loneliness, kisses, lips, broken hearts, men and women, sunrise, romance, sky, birds, babes, shaking asses et cetera et cetera?

LTunited was not about love, but it was critisised as well, you can not fit to anyone, but trust me, this was the best out of what we had. And as for myself i can anjey any song in eurovision without words like "shake" or sth like that.

:D This is funny.

Actually, I know the guy and I'm really surprised about his improvement. Few years ago, he wasn't even among the best singers in Lithuanian metal scene and now his voice was probably the best of all 14 candidates. His teachers Meškėla and Gabalis really did their job. I think he deserved this victory.

let's not generalize personal opinions, ok?

and to answer Arkadios I'd say that not all Eurovision songs are romantic or alike (increasingly so, se Estonian entry, which can be found here http://www.etv.ee/?0545699 - at leat I think this is their winner ..). On the other hand, it's Eurovision. it's ment to be a parade of crap-average songs, that's the whole idea, imho. I kinda like that we tend to send spontaneously, not actually thinking about our result. last year we acted like that and finished 21/24 (although realistically thinkinking that result was clear from the moment the our FInals winner was announced). This year it looks simmilar, imho.. we'll probably take pride from some positive feedback in the foreign press before the contest, but our pride will likely end with the announcement of the contest results. we'll again say that our representative performed respectfully and it's not his/our fault he failed, imho. and that would be good, coz in the past we tended to put all blame on our local contest organizers and/or our performers.
anyways, this year the sellection was weak anyways, so who cares.. and I personally think we could do worse (e.g. sellect some "format" song that usually brings success to larger countries but fails to impress when sang by small ones)..

Yeah, that song won in Estonia. ''Leto svet'' is performed by Kreisiraadio (three men, all over 40, they aren't professional singers). The song is made out of three languages (Serbian, German and Finnish) and the lyrics are meaningless (had enough of beans etc). They used tourists handbooks when they made the lyrics. It will be interesting to see how they will cope with it, even tho I preferred someone else to win it.

yeah, well, LT United "We are the Winners" looks like a perfectly suitable, fully in-format Eurovision pop performance compared to this ;) not that I mind, though - I would fill Eurovision with parodies if I could (the only way it could become entertaining, imho). but parodies is a risky business. sometimes they simply do not work.. I remember Stefan Raab from Germany, who was (probably still is) a perfectly normal "non-pop" comedian, but his piece for Eurovision was too soft and not funny enough (despite that it's the only thing I vaguelly remember from that year's contest, honestly). I thought Island were rather funny a few years back, but they didn't make the final (not that it matters though..).
Estonians look different (and probably funny too, if you understand what the heck they're singing), but I wouldn't predict where they'll finish.

What else do have chansons have to be about?
Besides, there are enough examples for the opposite. Plus, if one is interested in hard rock or techno, he can always skip this contest and watch something that suits his interest more, right?

This might be interesting to you. I don't know what to say, I'm talking about the spanish candidate for eurovision. I don't know if we're going to receive 1 point or 0 points, anyway it's going to be funny because we're not the only ones to throw a shit to the contest. Just take a look at the most voted candidate to go there for Spain:

2. Will Albania take part?

That's a very good point. I heard something about the place being relocated elsewhere, with Finland offering its services. I think Eurovision will exhaust the chances to hold the event in Serbia, but I wonder how inevitable would it be for politics not to get mixed up. It's not only Albania (which I cannot see really showing up) but also Slovenia, Croatia, Turkey, the UK and some other countries that were overenthusiastic at recognizing Kosovo upon the declaration of its independence.

Joško Poljak Fan

overenthusiastic?
I think Slovenia might be just about the only country where there has actually been a public debate about the negative effects of recognizing Kosovo's independence... while in the end it was told that as a president country of EU atm. we can't make a decision on our own anyway since we've got to wait for majority of countries and not recognise Kosovo too fast since that would be an akward solution when officialy discussing the matter with EU members that decided not to recognise Kosovo.

Afterall no other country has as big of a percentage of their overall investments abroad placed in Serbia as Slovenia does, if we consider by-pass investments throug Netherlands and some other tax friendly countries and exclude a one time investment by NordTelekom(or sth. like that) by 1.5 billion €, Slovenia might be near 2nd in national investments (=by capital's origin) there somewhere with Austria and Gemany, while I wouldn't be surprised if we got to no.1 place with all those off-shores investments from Kaymans, Gibraltar and such...(while it's also true we're one of the rare countries with actuall investments in Kosovo)... that also explains that if it's in anyone's interest to stabilise Serbia and to some extent related, keeping eurovision in Serbia- that's damn sure our interest...

my personal interest would be, cancel this eurovision stuff once and for all, I'm doing just fine since I managed to miss it for sth. like 5th or 6th consecutive year, but the wounds from the past are still open. Personaly if someone wanted to torture me, tie me up on a chair and make me watch eurovisions all the way from 70ies to the 07'- i'll commit suicide, guaranteed... even some bright spots as Željko Joksimović wouldn't save me... i could even cope with telletubbies 24/7 for a week and just gone to some mental institution later, but watching eurovision is a life threatening issue...

good that i stooped following this event, every year it gets more and more ridiculous. It should change the title to "the most ridiculous show contest" as it is not about songs anymore. But the country with which i am the most disappointed this year is Italy. i always had a big respect for them as they were smart enough not to participate in this circus. apparently they will send something this year after 11 years. gosh......

From the first semifinal, my favorite is Bosnia & Herzegovina. Knowing that Balkan countries always get a big boost from their numerous neighbours, I think Bosnians have good chances of winning. Also respect to Finland once again. ;) So many songs with non-English lyrics this year. I like that.

Qele Qele...Period

Bosnia was also very nice and i also liked Azerbaijan
But i consider Armenia as the favorite for winning overall.

Azerbaijan was pretty good indeed. Bosnia's one wasn't a song, c'mon...

Go Finland, go... :D

Ok, polls show that Bosnian song is one of the least popular of those, which made it to the final, so I guess I was wrong about their chances.
