  • Slovenia without Vujacic in Japan

I don't know much about Slovenian basketball. Is this good or bad?

Ljubljana (FIBA World Championship) - Slovenian national coach Ales Pipan named 15 players who will star preparations for FIBA World Championship in Japan on 10th of July.

"The FIBA World championship is very important for Slovenian basketball. I decided to pick the best 15 players who will fight for free spot in Japan. We will start our preparations on Rogla and I think that this first ten days will be the key one.

"We will also play ten friendly games and I think that this is enough for team which is preparing for the competition as world championship is," said Slovenian national coach Ales Pipan who will not have Sasha Vujacic in his squad.

Los Angeles Lakers player decided that he will rather work individual this summer because he will be free agent next year and he must be prepared for his new NBA season.

Slovenian 15 players and four reserves:

Guard: Sani Becirovic (Climamio Bologna), Goran Dragic (Geoplin Slovan), Nebojsa Joksimovic (Hemofarm), Jaka Lakovic (Panathinaikos), Domen Lorbek (Union Olimpija), Saso Ozbolt (Union Olimpija) and Beno Udrih (San Antonio Spurs).

Forward: Marko Milic (Union Olimpija) and Bostjan Nachbar (New Jersey Nets).

Center: Primoz Brezec (Charlotte Bobcats), Goran Jurak (Cantu), Erazem Lorbek (Climamio Bologna), Radoslav Nesterovic (San Antonio Spurs), Uros Slokar (Benetton Treviso) and Zelimir Zagorac (Helios Domzale).

Reserve: Aleksandar Capin (Viola Reggio), Sasa Doncic (Geoplin Slovan), Dragisa Drobnjak (Union Olimpija) and Miha Zupan (Geoplin Slovan).

I hope it won't have that much of an impact, but Vujačič has a good feeling for international style game and lately SG is Slovenia's weakest position... Sani Bečirovič managed to restore his career after all the injuries, but he is not exactly the same he was before, Sašo Ožbolt has major health troubles this year, Domen Lorbek and Goran Dragič have no experience on such level... so I wouldn't really mind if Vujačič would come to play this season.

Slovenia has a loaded roster but I really liked Vujacic this year with the Lakers. I think he should be starting next year but they just drafted Farmar so we'll see what happens.

unfortunaly he rushed in NBA too soon...by my belief he could be starting for Lakers now if he choosed some euroleague team for the past 2 seasons, but this way I don't think Saša is anywhere near starting spot- although I wouldn't mind if it happened
