            Hunter to Join Champville

            Date: Nov 14, 2007

Andrew Hunter is on his way to Beirut. The 27-year-old forward from Canada will arrive in the early morning of November 15, 2007.

At the airport, Champville (LEB-Div.A) officials and head coach Ghassan Sarkis will be waiting for him.

“He looks good on tape, but of course I prefer to see him in action,” Sarkis said. “I liked his game, and he’s the kind of player I’m looking for.”

Hunter has been to a lot of places in the world, but not Lebanon. His expectations about the country and basketball are pretty low at the moment.

“This will be my first time in the Middle East so I am not too sure of what to expect,” Hunter said. “But I am looking forward to it.”

This dynamic athlete is not coming though without any prior knowledge. Former friends who have played in Lebanon in the past have given the league a good rep.

Their feedback helped Hunter make his decision.

“I am not sure how the league is but I do have some friends who have played in it, and they say it is very competitive. I have heard really positive things.”

Hunter sees Lebanon as a good choice for him right now, as it gives him “some Middle Eastern exposure, which might prove valuable in the future.”

Hunter is a 6’7” small forward from Ontario, Canada. He averaged 11.5ppg and 5.7rpg at Sacred Heart (NCAA), where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science.

During his professional career, Hunter played in elite leagues such as the French ProA league, as well as in Germany, Hungary and Portugal.

Reggie Bassette is a 6’9” center from Virginia, USA. The 30-year-old Old Dominion University (NCAA) graduate is a veteran in overseas basketball.

His 12-year-long journey has taken him to Asia and Europe, where he has played in the French ProA league, the Korean KBL league, and the German Bundesliga, besides several other leagues across Europe and the United States.

Bassette is a massive force in the paint. He dominates his area by blocking shots, grabbing rebounds and scoring easily.
