  • CBA import listing (year by year)

In China, imports are only listed under their "Chinese" names which makes it very difficult to determine their English (or Brazilian/Croatian/Lithuanian etc.) names. Sometimes, a player named "Matt Smith" will be either "Ma Te" or "Si Mi Si" in China, which is impossible to decipher without other information. Asia-basket.com is a great help in this respect (especially in recent years).

Note: This list does not include the 20+ ethnic Chinese players from Taiwan (including top players Cheng Chih Lung, Chou Chun San, Lo Shin Liang), Hong Kong (including top player Poon Chi Ho), etc. who played in CBA.

I think CBA should've hired some basketball reporters and journists from Idia and philippine. Damn. there is no english coverage for CBA what so ever.

08-09 season seems to feature many high profiled imports. Of course, this is still an early stage as the CBA I think does not start until early November this year.

        - Zhejiang Horses reportedly signed Sam Hoskin and Shammell Stallworth, 2 imports in the Croatian league last year, thanks to the new Croatian assistant coach.

        - Shanxi Fierce Dragons is trying out James Lang and Damone Brown, after signing Bob Weiss as their head coach.

        - Jilin Northeast Tigers have signed long time CBA player Soumaila Samake and Leon Rodgers.

        - Fujian Sturgeons will play with Priest Lauderdale this season.

        - Expansion team Tianjin has reportedly gotten Lee Nailon.

        - Liaoning Dinosaurs (new team logo) have inked David Harrison. The other one may be Jamal Sampson from last year.

        - Shandong Lions are rumored to have these guys lining up for a tryout: Voshon Lenard, Tony Delk, Darvin Ham, and Awvee Storey, among others.

        - Xinjiang Flying Tigers' two imports will be Juan Mendez and Scooter McFadgon.

        - Dongguan Leopards seem to have an agreement with Houston Rockets player Mike Harris that if he couldn't make the team he'll come back to the CBA to play for them.

I would be really shocked if David Harrison really played in the CBA this season. I can't imagine how much it would cost to sign a guy like that. He would absolutely destroy any of the big guys he went up against.

Indeed a very impressive list of foreign players, if they all make it over.

Looks like David Harrison is headed to China, he could sign with a team next week, that's according to: http://www.twincities.com/ci_1079708...ce=most_viewed

And Rockets released Mike Harris, so he's also going to China, but he may ask for opt-out clause overseas, according to Houston's media: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6073449.html

Updated the list in the post above (#6). Tianjin is looking for a replacement center, some say Lee Nailon. Zhejiang Lions may replace Kasib Powell with Rodney White, we'll see. Whether Jamal Sampson will play for Liaoning or Dongguan remains to be seen. At any rate, CBA this year boasts some very well known ex-NBA players.

how much is the salary for each import??
here in the philippines the salary of each import is between $14000-$20000..
having ex nba players as your import it indicates that the cba is maybe the best league in asia plus the fact that you also have former nba coach in the person of bob weiss

Salary really depends on the team as there is no salary cap, but Michael Harris is paid $45000 a month and Kirk Snyder $52000/mo.

Shanxi: Bob Weiss (USA), Rick Turner (USA)
                        Tianjin: Lindsey Gaze (Australia)
Qingdao: Kang Jeong Soo (S Korea)
