    Boomers v NZ: dates set


    FIBA Oceania has announced the dates for the 2007 FIBA Oceania Championship for Men which will be played in a best of three series between Australia and New Zealand.

    The winner will go to Beijing, the loser will earn a spot for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament in summer 2007.

    While venues for the games will be confirmed at a later date, the cities to host the games will be Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

    Game 1: Brisbane 20 August 2007
    Game 2: Sydney 22 August 2007
    Game 3: Melbourne 24 August 2007


    In related news, the FIBA Oceania Championships for Women will be held in New Zealand in the city of Dunedin on the South Island from September 24 to 30.

    Although the defencejobs Opals are already qualified for Beijing as World Champions and the New Zealand Tall Ferns by continent quota, the two teams will play in the tournament.

    The third placed team will earn a spot for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament.
