  • Fiba Lifts Philippines Suspension!

    ITS OFFICIAL!!!

AFTER a two-year wait, the Philippines can now return to action in the international basketball arena.

In a one-page faxed document, FIBA secretary-general Patrick Baumann stated that the Tokyo communiqué has been fulfilled and the country’s two-year old suspension from all Fiba-sanctioned tournaments has been lifted. Thus, he further stressed, BAP-SBP will now take the place of the BAP as a duly affiliated member by Fiba.

Baumann also pointed out he will inform the FIBA Central Board about his decision in their meeting in Madrid, Spain come March.

"It is therefore my pleasure to confirm to you that the Tokyo Agreement has now been complied with and, as a consequence, the suspension on the Philippines has been lifted. At the same time, BAP-SBP replaces the BAP as a duly affiliated member of FIBA taking over all of its rights and obligations," Baumann stated.

    see you all in abc!

The RP team has been dominating the South East Asian basketball scene ever since i can remember. so that shouldn't be a problem.

as far as i know the RP team has been competing in all asian tournaments, pero they dont send the same teams for the tournaments. I believe we only send our best team only to the Asian Games. I think because ABC was in conflict with the schedule of the professional league, and also because of BAP, who used to call the shots for our national team and that they would send their own team that were composed of players from the amatuer league or from a second rate league for SEABA, SEA games and ABC. thats why we usually end up at the bottom of the ABC tournament, and for the past 10 or so years we've been on at least the top 4 on the Asian Games.
