Michele Serpilli (1999, 197 cm, Fw) should lead Italian team.
Youngest is pg Matteo Laganŕ (2000, 189 cm) a talented kid who has already gained some international experience as a U14.

Great result from Italy in the opener vs Serbia, 74-73, in a thrilling finish.
Serbia led most of the game but Italian team never lost its concentration and Lorenzo De Zardo (24 pts) & Emanuele Trapani scored the deciding points in the final, after Serbian team made some mistakes from the FT line and under the basket.

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Germany 60 : 52

Musa had 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners.

Sikiraš had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Both of them played on last year U16 European Championship where Bosnia ended as 8th, and they are abble to play for U16 team once again in this year.

Musa was actually top scorer of the last year U16 European Championship(23 ppg). Sikiraš had 8.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

And now they are back, but one year older.

Two great prospects indeed.

They are both ranked in the Top-3 of their year-class by Eurohopes.

Three teams unbeaten after D3 games: BIH, FRA and ITA.
Quite surprising to me is Italian team's performance, after the OT win vs Turkey, thanks to the FT scored by Alessandro Pajola. Same unexpected result (I think) for Bosnia & Herzegovina being 3-0, while France was and confirms as a strong contender.
After losing game1, Lithuania has convincingly won the other two games.
Serbia (1-2) and Russia (0-3) below expectations so far.

Turkey - Bosnia and Herzegovina 68 : 64 after overtime

What a stupid defeat, our team had 15 + points lead in one moment, and they lost after all.

Musa played bad with dozens of missed shots and turnovers, but coach didn't had courage to bench his most talented player. He didn't had courage to bench 16 years old kid. Amazing.

In the other hand, Sikiraš had 24 points and 10 rebounds, even though he was fouled out.

France is the only undefeated team, after an impressive rout of Russia 91-43, with all players scoring at least 2 pts, and after BiH and ITA narrowly lost their battles with Turkey and Germany. Lithuania too was impressive in demolishing Georgia 100-53 and is expected to close at 2nd place behind France.
Bosnia & Herzegovina and Italy will battle tomorrow for the two first places in the other group.

Musa two games in row isn't good as usual, hard to beat anybody when your most talented player have bad games.

I watched some couple of matches. Few interesting players in Bosnian and French teams. Probably the worst Turkish generation in recent years. None of the players impressed me. I hope they will improve themselves.

The final will be Turkey vs Lithuania, who deservedly beat both groups leaders.

Turkey, led by excellent Onuralp Bitim (24 pts on 9/11 FG2 shooting and 9 reb) surprised favorite France, that recorded its first loss in this deciding game.

Lithuania took an early lead over Italy and never relinquished it, though Italian team tried to come back in the game in the last Q.

The final will be between Turkey and Lithuania. Our young guys never give a break on the run of Turkish basketball. To be honest, Lithuania impressed me more. They have good shooters in this level. Bitim has good penetration skill which made him a unique player. We will expect at least a bronze medal from these guys this summer.

Waiting for the title game, France finished 3rd defeating Italy 63-49. Italy had a good start this time, ending the 1st half ahead. French team took the lead early in the 2nd half just to clearly win with a partial 43-25.

BiH finished 5th beating China, Latvia 7th over Georgia, Serbia 9th defeating Montenegro and Germany 11th over a deceiving Russia.

Turkey is champ 69-68 after OT, in an absolute thriller.

Can Duran (he hit the winning basket) and Bitim heroes of the game.

For Lithuania, Vasiliauskas and Sargiunas were the best.

Turkey defeated Lithuania 69-68 with the buzzer beater of Ahmet Can Duran. Well both teams fought hard but Turkey didn't let Lithuanians to take the title. For Turkish side, I couldn't see any interesting players. They have to improve themselves everyday. Anyway congratz to our young fellas.

Well, it was a hard game with the OT with possible game winners for both sids, but Turkey got it. Congrats.

As i know (i don't know for sure though) there aren't any quite big talents as in earlier generations (1996, 1997, 1998 yeras). But they are whining quite confidently against most of other teams.

By the way, the u16 EC will be organised in Lithuania. The thing i don't like is that the kids are being well coached by the youth coach now, but in summer they will be coached by the senior coach who is not doing well at all in senior basketbal...Nonsense.

I think Onuralp is the son M. Kemal Bitim, an ex-Efes basketball player himself... his relative bball maturity at this age can be explained by that.

At the age of 16, he is already 210 cm tall. But he didn't make final roster for Bosnia on European championship, he is raw right now, needs to learn how to use his height.
