Dominican Republic

Canada

Mexico

Jamaica

This is DR's game to lose.

Uruguay's last two games against Canada have finished by a combined 4 points, yet today half of the uruguayan team looked tired at the end of their win against Brazil. I dont think they will even try to beat Canada today.

Mexico is playing at another level. If they can contain Scola, who has looked far from spectacular so far, plus keep Campazzo in check, they might be looking at another easy win.

And Jamaica, why not? Brazil looks like it doesn't care anymore, except maybe for Huertas and Giovannoni who look disgusted at whats happening.

I saw in the box scores Ewing played. But limited minutes. How did he fare?

Didn't fare well, looked awkward. Showed some intensity though.

Do you think Argentina have any chance to beat Mexico? I can't see that coming.

Scola has to step up for that to happen.

Weren't there similar organizational difficulties at last year's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela?

Argentina will lead group B into the second round, followed by Mexico, Venezuela and Dominican Republic fourth.

Just like that Argentina back to being Argentina.

Just like the DR a few days ago...amazing how you good you look when you shoot 14-21 on threes. Still a very ordinary Argentina team IMO, but they probably just need one more win to qualify.

Jamaica's guards never ever ever get to the rim when they penetrate in the halfcourt.

Group X and Group Y will crossover right? Facing all the teams on the other group? Then the top 4 will qualify?

Which means a Canada victory later will be significant if they want to end up on the Top 4.

And Brazil goes home winless, I might have to put bold marks in my sig. Never have I been so wrong about a team.

Brasil loss to Jamaica, first time Brasil don't go to a WC, first time that Jamaica have a victory in a Americas Tournament.

Tied at 76, Caio fouls Akeem Scott 20 feet from the basket with two seconds left on the shot clock and Scott hits the winning free throws. Fitting end to the tournament for Brazil.

Jamaica just a few baskets from being 3-1.

What a shame for Brazil... This should serve as a lesson for the federation, NT staff and all the superstars. Great job for sucking so much.

Ouch. Goodbye Brasil! Hats off to Jamaica!

Now they will wish they had Barbosa and Splitter... 3rd World Cup casualty after China and Tunisia.

Good win for Jamaica. It certainly helps with the growth of their program from this point forward.

Even though Brazil was without a number of key players, my question is, where is the depth in the Brazilian program? There needs to be some serious soul searching by the Brazilian federation in analyzing how talent is fostered and developed in that country. No disrespect to Jamaica, but there's no way in hell given the population size, financial resources, and long legacy of Brazilian basketball they should lose to an upstart like this. Brazil is three years away from hosting the Olympic tournament and they have nothing to build upon moving forward. What a disappointing collapse.

One thing is for sure.. they don't deserve a wildcard..

Nicholson hits three straight three-pointers. Last year in the NBA he attempted 486 shots and none of them were threes.

they should get invited
question is.. Where is the depth of the program?
they were favorites

Really impressive brickfest by Canada's reserves in the fourth quarter.

They will be hosting the 2016 Olympics and will be spoon fed to join the Spain tournament.. its unfair to the competition..How can you get a wildcard slot if you don't win any games and most importantly majority were blowouts..

We all knew they are strong team but FIBA shouldn't tolerate mediocrity in competing in the zone tournaments..

Point taken.. but with them as paper champs they should be in spain without dribbling a basketball...

I thought were promoting basketball it unfair to th other teams that play hard to their?above their potential that came short..

teams that will not be good enough to compete against the real teams on the world cup.
Is the World Cup a elite basketball competition or a primary school field day?

To make a case for Brazil... Stars pulled out of the tournament and their replacements got injured days before the tournament begins.
Dont be mistaken, that Brazilian roster, on talent alone, could have won the gold on this tournament. Imma give em a pass on this one, injury bug hits them on a bad moment.

That's the advantage of being a good team comes in.. but again I can let them by not finishing to the top 4 or i say barely not making to 2nd round (top 4 out of 5) due to the tie break but being winless? It would be unfair to the 4 teams above them that they wouldn't be considered for a wildcard entry to world cup..Its not USA that you send a crappy agency team out there.. It is still the team A of Brasil with Huertas and Alex Garcia in it..

in the toughest group of the tournament. All of those teams on Group A would have qualified or would have been close to qualify in Asia or Africa
