China - I think the CBA's decision to change the line-up at the last minute will eventually backfire. The coach already has chosen the players he wanted/needed and probably already has a game plan in mind. Then suddenly key players are removed or added to the team. It ruins everything. Now he has to find a way to incorporate these guys in a short period of time.

Who are the 2-3 dozen Filipino(?) cheerleaders going crazy every time Guo Ailun gets the ball?

Saudi looks tired. The energy and pesky man to man defense is not there. 20 point lead by Taiwan as we are nearing the half.

back to earth for saudi. yes, they're tired. finished the game past 10pm last night then tip off at just past 1pm, not enough rest there. plus, taipei already know how they play, they're getting to the rim though not to the foul line that much

This Saudi guy Marzouq Al-Muwallad looks like a baller. What's his story, already 31 years old?

PS: is it just me or is the official site down?

Yep, it's been down several times today. It might get back in an hour or two though

Marzouq played on the U18 NT Saudi roster in 2010. He's born on August 6, 1992 so he's actually 20 years old (will be 21 in 4 days). I would have checked the FIBA Asian Championship website to see if they have his birth date mentioned wrong but the site is down.
Saudi Arabia have 5 players who are 24 years old and younger so they're building a good team for the future.

Not watching the game so i ask, how's Hong Kong full court press? They tapped two Pinoy coaches as consultant and that's their specialty :D

They're keeping the game close with their three point shooting. Only a 2 pt game.

Japan not playing JR Sakuragi though

After seeing Japan play they are lucky to be in their group. I think this is one of the weakest teams in recent years for Japan.

Foul plagued 1st quarter. Iran leads Korea 18 to 15.

hadidi is unstoppable in the paint
i guess the only way beating iran is shutting down hadidi, bahrami, and khamrani

Hadadi great again, 30 points and 13 rebounds...

In this first two games Iran show that they are first favourites for champions tittle.

Philippines and Jordan should be high scoring game, I will watch that... Philippines should play better than yesterday...

Kazakhstan up 79-76 with 21 seconds to go in first overtime. Anton Ponomarev was awful today, 1-8 shooting, 4 points, 8 rebounds in 26 minutes and fouled out. Kazakhstan since the 4th quarter has had 5 guys with 4 fouls, and amazingly none of them have fouled out yet, Bahrain unable to take advantage.

*79-76 is final

If the Gilas woes can be attributed to mental and psychological factors, it's safe to say these things will be history come tomorrow.

The monkey is officially off their backs, they can now play the way they should have played since the tip-off yesterday. CT better watch out!

Good game for both teams. I have to credit your team's zone defense as it really limited Marcus. Suffice it to say, you have a number of good players with potential for the future. Best wishes for your next games. :D

Thanks ... but unfortunately we had a disastrous 3rd Q., I guess it's lack of experience, plus "as coach Alexandris said" the crowd made their part ...

Congrats Philippines for the well deserved win.

From the writing on their uniforms, both the English and the Chinese, it looks like they are being sponsored by:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodog
Why this site would pay them to cheer for China, I have no idea. I don't think the site is popular in China, seems like it has far more business in the Philippines. But these girls were loud. And they left after cheering for China.

Unless they were cheering for China purely due to the betting lines they set, since it's a gambling site... Still really strange and unexpected. I don't mind though, haha.

And yes they're very good looking.

Online gaming brand Bodog Asia have signed a major six figure sponsorship deal to cover the entire 2013 FIBA Asia Championship (1-11 August 2013, Manila) which will include perimeter boards and in-stadia LED advertising.

Bodog Asia will, of course, be bringing their world-famous 'ambassadorettes' to the games both inside and outside the stadium to ensure there is a party atmosphere at the event.
