Besides the Tragedy, Malaysia should better stay at home.

3 Points in the whole quater, the worst Performances, horrible.

It makes no sense to get trashed, but if you only call unexperienced Players, so what

I mean Iran beat Malaysia 2 years ago by 85, which is why I picked such a huge result in the other thread, but last time around it wasn't the mismatch it is today. It was "only" like a 30 point game at the half. Remember it wasn't this bad last time around. Good to see the seconds in there getting a run out.

Malaysia battles a bit in the 2nd half and ends up losing by 55 points-- exactly my prediction for maximum points in the Prediction Game. Make it happen, Malaysia!

HT China leads 31-29. China's gameplan of utilizing height, wingspan and larger physique worked for the first five minutes. Their pressure man to man D forced Korea to operate at the over baseline that lead to long and low % shots on which China's Yi Jianlian and Wang Zhelin pounded the boards. Yoo Jae Hak and Korea adjusted by flipping the high baseline with short stabs on the wings with Yoon, Choi and Kim SH applying pressure. Forcing the tempo, using a strong ball side zone and hustle allowed SK to keep pace. More importantly, Korea is choosing their shots wisely through quick attacks. Interesting how Giannakis will adjust as China is playing conservatively.

CKR13

3rd ended. Korea leads 46-42 as there are too many mental lapses by China being made. Kim Sun Hyung brought energy when Korea needed it.

South Korea suffocates defending champion China in FIBA Asia shocker
InterAKTV Thursday, August 1, 2013 7:39 pm
FIBA Asia/Nuki Sabio

5878

South Korea turned to suffocating defense to put the clamps on defending champion China to pull out a thrilling 63-59 upset on opening day of the FIBA Asia Championship on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

China struggled all game against the South Korean defense, which turned the match into a low-scoring struggle using a variety of full-court traps and zone schemes.

South Korea was still leading in the fourth quarter, 48-44, before former NBA player Yi Jianlian took over. He scored the next nine points for his team to help China grab a 53-52 advantage with 3:11 left in the game.

Zhou Peng hit two free throws to give China a 55-52 cushion, before Kim Joo-sung responded for South Korea with a three-point play over Yi to tie the game at 55-all at the 2:08 mark of the game.

After the teams traded defensive stops, Kim got a crucial steal leading to China committing an unsportsmanlike foul on Donggeun Yang, who nailed two free throws for a 57-55 advantage.

But South Korea squandered its extra possession, throwing the ball away. Zhu Fangyu nailed two free throws in the ensuing play to tie the game at 57-all with 40.5 seconds left.

Cho Sungmin drew a foul on Zhu in the next play, hitting two charity baskets for a 59-57 lead with 31.5 seconds left. South Korea foiled China’s next set, and Cho scored two more free throws for a 61-57 lead with 21.5 seconds left.

But China was not done, with Liu Xiaoxu drawing a foul and scoring on a drive to the basket. But the Chinese guard missed his bonus free throw, forcing China to foul South Korea once more.

Donggeun nailed two more free throws, giving South Korea a 63-59 edge with 13.8 seconds left to ice the ballgame.

Kim led South Korea with 15 points, while Cho and Donggeun added 12 and 11, respectively.

Yi posted 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead China, which missed all 14 of its three-point attempts during the game.

South Korea is up for another test on Friday when it takes on Iran in continuing Group C action, while China will battle minnow Malaysia earlier in the day.

China looked really bad today. I don't know if its the new system of the new coach, but things I noticed are they do not run even on opportunities that they can. They also seem to not have a flow on offense thus taking bad shots at the end of the shot clock. But one thing I also noticed is the regulars/veterans did not play as much or are they out of favor of the new coach? Speaking of Sun Yue, Zhu Fangyu etc. is this a case of china pulling its punches or are they really out of sync? Something tells me its more of the former and I do feel the veterans are not in the same wavelength as the new coach.

i think gilas was just playing possum since this isn't really the real deal match. like what coach chot said, they're preparing for jordan and chinese taepei. and you could see that coach chot was so relaxed, far from his coaching attitude. they didn't go too much on douthit, david not scoring too much, etc. maybe they were fine tuning their selves, it's also far from there jones cup performance

safe to say Gilas prepared on a per-team basis. Different game plans for different teams. So for this KSA game, there was no gameplan. Every 5 minutes or so Chot shuffles players like crazy, even if the player is waxing hot. Expecting a very different team against Jordan today.
