All we have to do right now is prove that we can also win this tournament. Let's go Pilipinas! One game at a time Philippines we still have Taipei . Back then we was expecting China/Phils finals and look what happen SOKOR beat us in the Semis. N o need to be cocky we're not the team that beat Iran.

my thoughts on this jordanian upset:

1. For iran, its a disaster .. <we may see a new Iran NT head coach next year:D> ..after sweeping the first and second round..they failed to win the game that matters <conversely, the law of averages caught up with them at such a crucial moment>
2. For jordan <even if they lose next game> its like wining the championship already. Like a wounded animal who refuse to quit <and virtually counted out by everybody>, they slayed a mighty persian beast <i can hear the chinese celebrating woot woot>, and save what could have been a forgettable and dismal showing in this years fiba asia.
3. For the philippines <assuming the taiwanese wont do a jordanian hat trick later>, the defeat of Iran may or my not be a blessing. Gilas will have a hard time defeating a team in high spirit and may have now been able to find its inner self <after looking like a lost sheep> in the early rounds..
4. China NT will be treating the jordanians tonight to a feast:D
4. It proves that the ball is round, and nobody's exempted..that even the toughest team can have a "bad hair day" :D

Congrats to Jordan! what an effort!

I think it's obvious that the other group with Korea and Iran were having a field day since they don't really have much competition in that group while China, Jordan, Philippines and Japan had to slug it out in their group.

Iran came into the game with too much confidence thinking they can easily beat Jordan since they were bulldozing the other teams from their group. Well, it only proves that Jordan was ready since they were up against good competition prior to Iran.

Why are Filipinos here jacking off like this? What's the history behind Iran and Filipines in basketball?

None really. It's just if we're lucky enough to win against CT, then we'd just have to slay one giant (China) and not two giants (China and Iran) on the way to London.

But still, since the giant-slayers (Jordan) did it, they (Jordan) shall be considered a worthy opposition though not on the same level as Iran (and not the one which played in this game) for what could be another classic knockout game in the semis (Whilst the Philippines beat Jordan in the group stages, they'd have a different high if and when we meet again, so i feel that match-up is really a coin flip)

I basically don't give a fuck about this Asiabasket as long as we gain points in the FIBA ranking, which we should, and maintain our position of 20th place. I'm pretty sure had we won we would have gotten more points. Shit happens.

Who was that bald guy that kept hitting threes for jordan?

I think it was Al-Sous! He was very kind and approachable during their exhibition game vs PHi here.. He even gave his jersey to one the pinoys here.

Probably. The fact of the matter is that, for one day, everybody in this tournament owns you (Including the 9-to-16th teams)

i guess that's how it rolls when the favorites do fall ;)

Iran should have looked to go to Kazemi/Bahrami more instead of just throwing the ball inside to Haddadi

I sense it's getting personal here.

To all filipinos, pls don't be arrogant to our arab friends and make no fight. Whatever happened it happens it is inevitable, i guess jordan caught iran in a bad night not to mention the injuries of some key players like bahrami. Wrong decision by matic to let haddadi play all-game long he should have given him some rest look what happened?fatigue caught him up.

To Iranian friends, cheer up!you've won 2 titles in row it's been a wild ride for you and that's quite a big big achievement already!it's just that you cannot always win. Good luck on your future stints.

To Jordanian friends, congratulations on your victory. Very gutsy performance by the players. They showed a lot a spirit and never gave up.

To Filipinos, instead of throwing insults to our friends, can't we just pray for our team as we still have to hurdle taipei to reach semis.

One game at a time, we're getting there:)

Nah, that's the price giants pay when they fall. After all, where's the fun in sports without a little trash talk?! :D

Wow! I just saw the score!..that's incredible!!! Big congrats to Jordan and coach Tab!

I've always been against changing coach Baldwin on the Leb NT...I think this coach is really great and would have been very useful for us on the long term.

Good luck for the remaining games!

Me too! However, the basketball gods were smiling upon Jordan today.

I have seen so many upset or underdog wins, and what I noticed the most is that if an underdog has kept the game close, they have a chance of winning.

In addition, Iran has been bulldozing their opponents by at least 20 points a game, and I think they weren't tested unlike other teams in this tournament. Yes!, they've been playing together a lot, but this is a different tournament and a different year.

I am just hoping that Jordan is mentally tired from that game, and my Philippines would be able to mount a repeat performance against Jordan.

that's good for us man. know we wont have to deal with iran in the qualifyer. Now will play easy teams like Jordan or the phillipines. All we need now is for Korea to be inspired against china and we are set. easy olympic berth :p:p

but turkish people are arabs

Nope. Well, there are many in the part called Hayat which belonged initially to Syria and some are in the regions of Mersin and I think also near Izmir (if I remember right), but Turks are mostly Turks, not Arabs.

shawarma is originally turkish ....

I thought shawarma is originally Lebanese. That's because I have friends from Syria, Egypt, and Iran, and all have said that if I want some authentic shawarma, I should try the Lebanese shawarma.

This is a very good off topic conversation... yum...

Congrats to my team and hard luck for the good Iranian team,

PersianWarrior20, you are talking about civilization and how well developed is your country , the first aspect of civilization is you respect other civilizations and countries, this is one of the main goals of sport among nations and it is obvious you are missing that. in 2009, you won against us by two points only in the semi final, it is not like 20 or 30 points difference. in Asia, the true basketball power so far is China and it seems it will be for many years before this change.

Good luck for your team
