No fair! Dominicans had refs on their side, they made Horford practically untouchable. This is a minor setback anyway. Juan Pablo Piņeiro is a disgrace to cuban basketball, they shouldn't have brung him to Argentina!

Cuba for 2011 Fiba Americas Gold!!!

Brazil-Venezuela 92-83

Brazilian players bad odor where too much for venezuelans to overcome. Dominicans better bring some Gilette and Axe with them, or they will suffer the same fate. It was a good game overall.

Good for Greivis Vasquez too, but Im afraid if Venezuela relies on him too much, between Brazil's bad odor and dominicans 8 players on court, he wont be able to make it to the seond round alive.

Brazil-Venezuela 92-83

Very nice game and tough win for the Brazilians...
Venezuela lost control at 74-67, when Musselman pulled Vasquez off the game. He was forced to do that because Greivis would have been more exhausted than he seemed to be at the end of 4th quarter. Their defense also at the second half looked awful.

As for Vasquez, i am following him since his junior year at Maryland. Today's game proved that he fits better with international basketball than he does with the NBA style. He is a great player but his physical tools are not good enough for the NBA. I think that he can make a greater career if he decides someday to play in Europe.

Yeah, saw it. Was able to watch most of the game. Very entertaining. For me unexpectedly close game. Refs and (for some reason crowd too :D ) didn't like Brazilians much.

For 32 minutes it looked like Venezuelans can't miss (that 3-pointer at end of Q1 was ridiculous), 68-74 for VEN, then Brazil made 11-0 for 79-74.

Splitter 17 (11 rebs, 6 ast, 2 blk), Huertas 16 (7 ast, 4 TO), Giovanonni 16 (6 reb, 3 stl), Alex Garcia 15, Marcelo Machado 11
Huertas 7/8 FG, Splitter 7/8 FG, Alex Garcia 5/14, Marcelo Machado 3/11 only
Vasquez 26 (4 reb, 7 ast, 2 TO), Echenique 12 (7 reb), Cubillan 11

Splitter great (except free throws of course, 3/8), Huertas good, Alex Garcia not good, just took over Barbosa's yanking all shots role.
Greivis Vazquez great in offense (and Venezuela thanks to him great in offense). Oscar Torres played 26 minutes, 8 pts, 3/6 FG.

In 2nd half Brazil shot 20/32 = 63%, scored 53 points.
Venezuela coach Eric Musselman - Sir Limpsalot. One his foot is in cast, he's hoping around on one leg. Probably he get drunk, then fall down the stairs.

I don't know what Magnano said to the players, but I think Brazil played just to won the game, with no stress.

Argentina-Paraguay 84-52

Holy smokes while the paraguayans werent watching, argentine players where switched with look a likes, thats why they played the way they did. If FIBA lets this happen, Argentina will win this tournament without breaking a sweat. Quinteros and his look a likes led the way for Argentina with 19 points.
I really feel bad for Paraguay.

The commentary is a trainwreck. Did the PBP guy say that Holland was the first player to go directly from the NCAA to the Puerto Rican NT?

Flights from Antananarivo to Mar del Plata can't be that expensive.

Puerto Rico-Panama 99-66

With PJ Ramos out, Puerto Rico had to rely on Balkman's ugly mug to scare away panamanian players, and with a little asistance from Arroyo's pimp slaps. Also PR had assists from the refs. Sure the stats say Panama shot more free throws, but what the stats dont say is that they made PR's basket much wider than that of Panamas. Besides all that, I cant say much for the panamanians, their starters got outplayed by PR's bench. If this was 2009 when PR had Santiago and Vasallo in the bench then it wouldnt have been a problem, but now it is. Bimbo Carmona was Puerto Rico's best scorer for the day:D:D:D:D:D ROFLMAO!!!!!

Also big shout out to Greivis who was todays best scorer, thus making my prediction come true.

well, I thought Brazil was very unimpressive today. Lucky to pull the game out in the 4th quarter.

Alex Garcia offered very little offensively, and only the veteran machado saved them in the 4th.

Will really need to step it up to advance far.

Plus, the absence of Barbosa was very noticable today

Saalsapr said he felt sorry for Paraguay and I did too but particularly for the fans who showed up to the game with their flags and jerseys. Some of them left really dejected.

I was really happy with PR's performance, especially from Galindo and Alamo who played hard and made a few key shots when Panama was still trying to hang around.

I also hope Arroyo and Barea can continue to play together. When the game started they struggled to move the ball a bit and weren't communicating too well. Later they were subbing for each other. All PR players got in the game and everyone scored. Good for morale.

There was a nice amount of Boricuas who attended so I'm sure the players felt the support.

Although I still wonder how and why they qualified for this event, I hope they can do it a bit better the next game. I even doubt, that Mexico or Jamaica would have done it much better against Argentina yesterday.
